Horrific Collision At Mini-Camp

I have been covering the Jets for over 10 years, and this is the worst collision I have ever seen in a practice.

LB Kenwin Cummings and WR Wallace Wright collided at full speed.

The field was split in half. There were two different drills running at the same time. Wright was running a deep route in one direction and Cummings was covering RB Jehuu Caulcrick going in the other direction. Cummings and Wright were both looking back towards the respective quarterbacks throwing the ball in each drill, and ran into each other full throttle.

They were both down for several minutes. Cummings didn't seem to suffer any particular injury aside from a probable concussion. Wright was woozy and also holding his knee. We will have more details later.

The Jets organization can't even run split field drills correctly.

Apparently they need a Director of Field Allotment & Planning Coordinator.

:bag: You ain't kidding. At least Herm had the intelligence to let his players get killed by the OTHER team.

Just got back from a great hike. It's a jungle out there! Well, a forest, but I just found this modest update.

...Fortunately, both men escaped major injury. Cummings may have suffered a concussion while the Jets think Wright’s knee will clear an afternoon examination.

"Cummings was great on the football questions but wasn't good on the general questions,” Ryan said. "I don’t want to make too much light of it, but at least he knows his football stuff." Wright, in the locker room afterward, said he was OK. "That's the nature of the game," he said. "You have your career flash before your eyes sometimes, but neither of us was seriously injured. I'll be back."

Where did you hike ? I'm heading to Alleghany the weekend AFTER the draft.
One of my usual, local haunts. Last week was a banner one. A new Bald Eagle discovery. I was so happy, I almost split my pants. I've been going back every night since around 8:00 p.m., and I haven't come away empty-handed yet. I've found myself a good perch, and took some photos of their hunting ground today. A happy accident, a completely different pair than the pair I was alerted to last Summer in a different location. JOY. It's really a great thing because there hasn't been a sucessfully mated pair outside of the cliffs of the Hudson River in this area in 118 years - with the exception of the other pair I mentioned. I never got blessed with seeing the kids, but I know people who have. I have however, seen the parents at the same time, up close and personal. What a fluke. My hand went to my heart. I cried tears as big as quarters. Symbols, symbols, everywhere. Couldn't help it.

I haven't seen these two perched together yet (I may not - ever), but I won't be able to tell them apart unless I do. Females are usually larger. I don't know if they've successfully mated, but one can only hope. I have a decent idea where the nest might be, considering the direction one or the other of them takes off towards. I heard them piping back and forth like crazy the other night, which means they were hunting in unison, which confirms they're a pair. Then the piping got closer physically, louder and louder. Then, this tremendous commotion in the marsh and they stopped vocalizing at the same time. Not sure what they nailed, but it was holy moment. I kept my distance. Everybody's gotta eat in peace. There's a whole lot of other awesomeness to this story, but this is about Cummings and Wallace Wright. :P
