NFLs StepChild
About the same as TJ holding out, Leon demanding a trade, and our next draft pick breaking a leg at the smae time?
nycdan
About the same as TJ holding out, Leon demanding a trade, and our next draft pick breaking a leg at the smae time? That's about right. I admire the kid's spunk, but my favorite all-time RB is Earl Campbell so what the heck am I supposed to make of a kid that's barely bigger than Earl's left thigh? #27TheDominator
What are the chances that Danny Woodhead doesn't get cut before the end of camp? I think he has as good a chance as any other UDFA. The team is thin at RB. Missing last season didn't help him, but I think he's got a very good shot at the practice squad. He should still be eligible. slats
His chances are inversely proportional to Leon's health.
124
We need to carry a third Running Back on the roster this seaon with Jones turning 21 and wishing for a new contract, PLUS, Rex Ryan's "run 1st & 2nd" type philosophy that he is going to try to instill into Brian Schottenheimer's play selections. We got lucky last season that we didn't need a third back and Ryan compared Danny to the offensive version of Jim Leonhard today.

We got lucky last season that we didn't need a third back and Ryan compared Danny to the offensive version of Jim Leonhard today. If the Jets take a RB in rds 1-4, he is toast. If not, then it will depend if they would consider carrying him over Jehuu Caulcrick, or carrying both JC (as a backup FB) and DW. I think he is an interesting player, and has proven he can play, albeit not at the highest level. I am just not sure his skill set matches the Jets needs. As has been mentioned, as a RB, he is a lot like Leon. And the comparison to JL does not necessarily bode well for his chances. All this said, I would not be surprised to see other teams scoop him up if he hits the PS.
