Thai Jet
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090419/ap_on_re_us/hiker_death_utah Terrible, Lots of people die in the US every year while hiking and climbing. It's something you don't really think about while you're doing it. I met a guy from Missouri on the trail last summer in Colorado. We exchanged hellos and small talk as we stopped to rehydrate. 2 days later he was dead. .... fell while climbing another peak. RIP

Otter
Very sad to see this happen. Stories like this one and TJ's experience show that this type of hiking accident can happen anytime anywhere. You have to be alert and prepared at all times when you are in the mountains.
joewilly
I've hiked that mountain & many other trails in the wasatch mt range.never in the snow though. without going into someones home, I think the highest point of elevation here is about 12 ft. That's what makes hiking at altitude so difficult. There's only around 50% of the oxygen at 14,000 feet as there is at sea level.
