ylekram
my take anyways jets stay put and pick bap defense. jets move up into the end of the first round and take tight end jets more up into the end of the second for receiver or og. thats it.just 3 picks

To do what you suggest would take next year's 1st and 2nd.

Of course if we did it then we wouldn't have any picks left, let alone enough to move up into round 2 with our 3rd pick. Our 2nd & 3rd pick (chart-wise) would get us to #32 if Pittsburgh was somehow willing to do that. Would leave us with mid-round picks in the 4th, 6th, and 7th. Hardly enough to move up into round 2. ylekram
ya.your right.i keep forgetting we dont have a 5th.maybe a 2nd and a 4th to move somewhere near the beginning of round 2 and the 3rd,6th,and 7th to move somewhere towards the end of the second. i dont see the jets using #17 on a tight end or receiver.however, they need both before the season starts. who knows,i have been wrong before
uart
Not going to happen. We're pretty much a lock to pick offense in the first. MAYBE we trade down and get an extra pick out of the deal if we don't like being at 17. My guess is that we go WR, unless we can grab Knowshon or Pettigrew, or maybe if one of the QBs drops to us. I really don't see us trading up for a QB, and I'm not sure that they'd take Freeman at 17 if he was there and someone wanted to trade up for him. Same deal with Knowshon. GFJET33
anybody else irritated by the 4pm start time for the draft now? thats a painful wait having to watch kiper and mcshay have the same argument we've seen all week with each other for too many hours leading up to the first pick. It used to be so easy to wake up turn on the tv and the first pick is less than an hour away. As far as the draft goes, DHB is the one guy that has not received a lot of speculation as a jets pick when we all know we need a big target WR, leads me to believe hes our guy at 17. Sanchez is a goner in the top 10 and freeman is too much of a boom or bust type.

I used to just hop down to the Felt Forum during the Knicks game to catch parts of the draft. This time zone **** blows bad enough without them moving it back. Also DHB = boom or bust type. This years draft changes everything: Round 1 has been reduced from 15:00 minutes per pick to 10:00 minutes per selection The 1st round that used to take an estimated 4 - 6 hours 1st round last year took 3-1/2 hours New time frame restrictions will only take an estimated 3 - 5 hours [*]Round 2 has been reduced from 10:00 minutes per pick to 7:00 minutes per selection 2nd round last year took 2-1/2 hours last year & is expected to be reduced to less than 1-1/2 hours First day selections have been estimated, by the NFL, to end by 10:00 PM on Saturday. Rounds 3-7 will begin at 10:00 AM on sunday They have been reduced from 7:00 Minutes per pick to 5:00 per selection The NFL has estimated that the final 5 rounds should end by 7:00 PM Sunday Why is this such a waste? In years past we got up early, stayed with the draft until almost 11:30 at night for just the 1st 3 rounds! You get the morning, can set up a DRAFT DAY PARTY at your home at a decent hour & BBQ the night away - Plus your guest get home early!

I am not sure I agree with the NFL'S calculations especially on the first round. If every team takes their full allotment of time that will be 320 minutes or 5 hours and 20minutes for round one or it ends at 9:20 PM. I love the NFL, but does the draft need to be a prime time event?

DMaynard
I hate to upset a few people, but I am really thinking we will take Pettigrew at #17, assuming he is there. Here is how I get there: 1. The QBs or WRs that they would want will not be there at #17. 2. I don't think they will try to trade up, as we really need all of our picks. We are very light in o-line and d-line depth. Not only are we exposed to any injuries along the lines, but we have no viable replacements for Fanaca, Woody, Ellis and Jenkins when they start slowing down in the next few years. 3. I don't think we will trade down as Pettigrew will probably be gone by the second half of the first round. 4. Lets' face it. With Brady back, the Pats are once again the team to beat in the AFC East. I have big hopes for either Clemens or Ratliff to step up, but we will not be able to beat the pats in any shootouts. The jets will have to do it with a run first, ball control offense and a pressuring defense. 5. To do this, the Jets have to have a blocking TE. Picking up a jouneyman block only TE or drafting one in the later rounds presents a limitation to the offense. When they are on the field replacing Keller, it signals run to the defense and they are useless in play action. 6. Pettigrew's potential ability to excel at run blocing and pass catching would present Shotty with lots of formation and play options. Frequent two TE sets will reduce the reliance on Stuckey/Clowney as the other starting wideout. I'd like to see Clowney start as his speed would be, at a minimum, a nice decoy that would open up things underneath for Cotchery, Keller and Petigrew. With Washington out of the backfield, that gives Clemens/ratliff some nice options. I think Stuckey is best suited as the 3rd WR out of the slot. ylekram
actually, nugent, jolley, and justin miller were our first 2 draft picks,if that makes any sense.we didnt trade our 1st for jolley.we did,but we received oaklands second rounder as part of the deal
ylekram
i also beleive that pettigrew is high on the jets short list.i dont know if they will take him at 17,but if he slides some,i can see the jets making a move.they have no choice but to draft a te be it early on or latter.i beleive it to be early on as we have no starter.the te must basically be able to start from day 1.i think a te is more important than a receiver in this situation.any receiver the jets might be able to grab would be second tier and probably wont be able to contribute for a few.i still think d-line is where the first pick goes, but i guess that depends on how the board goes
