ESPN's Sal Pal..."Jets want Sanchez"

Wow.

Looks like we can trust JB after all. If the Jets make this happen then they better believe Sanchez is going to be something special. If they do, I fully understand trading up.

That being said, it's pretty stupid to do this now, isn't it? First of all, Sanchez could be gone at #4, this isn't the #1 overall pick where you can pencil him in.

JB knows all.

The more I think about it, the more I wouldn't mind going up and getting Sanchez. Whether he turns out to be good or no, it will at least make the Jets interesting to watch for the next two, three years.

Yeah.

Despite his lack of experience think he's by far the most polished, pro-ready QB in this draft class. If we draft him, he's starting opening day IMO.

We'll have to trade into the top 3 if we want him. I have a feeling we won't do that.

Meh, I'm not sure the Seahawks are going QB. Maybe but Hasselbeck when healthy is a decent option. They have too many other holes to fill IMO.

It depends on who's on the board really.

But most likely Crabtree and Sanchez will both be on the board at #4 so its not like the Seahawks are going WR or QB depending on who's been taken.

I don't think we will trade up now. If so that is really stupid. Unless they want maclin or crabtree as a back-up option.

I don't buy all this QB talk. I'm not saying we shouldn't take a Sanchez or Stafford if he were around, but I just don't see that happening and I certainly don't see the Jets trading up.

We heard alot last year about the Jet offense being complicated with all the multiple formations and shifting and how Schotty had to simplify everything for Favre, which was something they weren't real happy about. Now I know Favre came in late, but if a 20 year veteran couldn't learn the system in a month or two, do we really expect a kid from college to come out and learn it in 3 months?

We already have two young QBs on the roster. I know they're unproven, so is Sanchez, but at least they have been in the system for 2 or 3 years. I doubt Schotty would have to simplify much for either one of them because of mental limitations. Both know the offense. They've been running it everyday in practice for 2 or 3 years.

The Jets want to run the ball in '09, which requires a blocking TE. They have no blocking TE on their roster now that Baker is gone.

Unless they can get one by other means, they may use their first rounder on Pettigrew.

If he's there at 17, and they think they can get him further down, they may trade down and get an extra pick. I think this is a very likely scenario.

I know it's not the sexy pick, and considering the Jets history with TE's in the 1st round, it won't make many people, including myself, very happy. I'd rather see them get a veteran blocking TE by some other means, perhaps through summer transactions.

But considering the type of team they're going to be in 2009, specifically trying to win via defense and the running game, grabbing a TE that can block makes sense ... if not in the 1st round, in a subsequent round.

No harm in getting the parameters of a trade in place now, but they shouldn't pull the trigger on it until the Jags are on the clock, and the player they want is still on the board.

The only harm being that we set the market and give teams almost a week to outbid us..

I. Wouldn't want pettigrew at 17 but I wouldn't mind pettigrew if we traded back for him while getting another second

I would love for the JEts to make a trade up...@ #6 we could get a really good talent and a player that can help this Jets offense for years to come because face it...If we trade up it wont be to draft a defensive player unless Curry drops but I cant see us picking up an LB with our 1st pick. Sanchez would be great, he could be our Matt Ryan, a rookie who can come in and make things happen for the offensive side of the ball. I like the potential that Kellen Clemens but I wont lie...A talent like Sanchez would be great to build an offense around with players such as Leon Washington and Dustin Keller as serious playmakers.

Sanchez could go at 4 but I would still like to move up because what about Crabtree>

God everything logical says to stay away but I'm really not enthusiastic about anyone else and the closer we get to Saturday the more I think this is the guy I want to get...

You sound like me a few weeks ago. At first i wasn't so sure but the closer to draft day it gets the more i want you guys getting Sanchez. When you have a QB competition, you got trouble, from my perspective.

The good news is that the Jets are probably the only a$$hole franchise looking to trade up into the top 10. If anything, teams higher than #8 will hear what we're offering the Jags and they'll offer their pick up for the same price.

Good point.

I stand corrected
