Well, after the Mets lost to the Cardinals, 5-2, on Wednesday night to fall two games under .500, Jerry Manuel plans to shake up his lineup. Well, shake it up for a day, anyway. Carlos Beltran will move to third in the order for Thursday's matinee against the Cardinals, as David Wright switches to No. 5. (Manuel had said they were "interchangeable" during spring training.) Also, Gary Sheffield will start over Daniel Murphy in left field, though Manuel is committed to Murphy as his left fielder. Less secure is Ramon Castro. Omir Santos starts Thursday, and the door is open for him to seize added playing time. Santos homered twice off the pitcher he'll face, Kyle Lohse, in a Grapefruit League game in March in Jupiter. Alex Cora starts over Luis Castillo at second base. John Maine's struggles persisted with five walks. He and Oliver Perez have a combined 7.63 ERA, and the Mets have lost five of their six starts.
