Comcast & NFL Network

NFL Network is no longer going to be broadcast on Comcast as of Friday. I'm sure all of the Comcast customers, like myself, who pay $7 for the Sports Package know this.

The reason for this post is because of a letter I received from Comcast last week. The letter states that I can get a free year of Starz or an Internet Speed Upgrade for 12 months if I keep the Sports Package.

Why the hell would I do that? The only reason I get the Sports Package is because of NFL Network!

I just called Comcast and canceled the Sports Package. Has anyone else in my situation done the same?

On a side note both Comcast and the NFL Network come off greedy bastards in this saga.

For those who haven't heard about the ongoing drama between the two a simple google search will fill you in pretty quickly.

I feel your pain. Charter has not had the NFL Network as long as I have been a customer.

They need to come to some resolution. This is dumb.

That's because they know you are a Dolphins fan :P. Seriously this whole thing is ridiculous.

Yeah, no kidding. I've had the NFL Network for 5 years and finially Miami will be featured on a Thursday game and they're taking it away from me (insert profanity laced tirade).

You are in the home market so the game will be shown on a local network. I'm going to miss the game replays and on-demand stuff.

Gainzo, I feel for you. It's definately F'd up.

I've never had the NFL Network. The 2 largest cable companies in the NY area (Cablevision * Time Warner) doesn't carry it.

The NFL is mainly to blame for this. They want the same sweetheart deal ESPN has with the cable companies. ESPN has a special deal as they were, essentially, one of the founding cable networks.

Actually, I plan on being at the game, but, I like to DVR the games, especially when it's a beatdown of the Pats on a Thursday night ;)

Dish Network did this to me last year the week of the superbowl. I went to work in the morning and i came home expecting to watch the giants press conference and BOOM it was gone. we called and they said we had to upgrade our package. WTF how come our package was good enough for the last 3 years and all of a sudden it isnt anymore.

When looking at houses my number one question would the home owners association allow the dish. I have DirecTV for 9 years and it rules.

That is pretty similar to when I was looking at apartments. If I had no cell phone signal then all bets were off.

The town I live in offers Comcast, RCN & Verizon FIOS for cable and all the satellite providers you can shake a stick at. Unfortunately my building is Comcast only.

It makes it fun at the local sports bar!

I switched from Crime Warner to Direct TV about 2 years ago because of the NFLN. WTF do you pay the $7 a month for ? It's getting out of hand Gainz.

I blame greedy companies like Crime Warner. Their F'ing arguement is that special groups like sports fans should pay xtra for sports. What about all the F'ing QVC Shopping networks ? Do those people pay for those? How about the news freaks ? Are they paying xtra for CNN and the C Span garbage ? NO. Then why single out sports fans ? Thank you my rants ovah.
