shutout
bet we could've gotten something for him. it's still brett favre. someone would have ponied up a conditional pick for him. I'd guess if he does want to come back it'll be with Minnesota and we sure as hell weren't gonna trade him there because it'd cost us 3 1st rounders, so why stand in his way? If he wants to embarrass himself further by unretiring AGAIN, and showing his age AGAIN, let him. Just leave the Jets out of it.
docdhc
If he does sign with the Vikes don't we still owe the picks?
JiF
They would be unstoppable with 11 games indoors.
shutout
If he does sign with the Vikes don't we still owe the picks? Nope. Only owed picks if we had traded him to an NFC north team.

ZachEY
bet we could've gotten something for him. it's still brett favre. someone would have ponied up a conditional pick for him. Nah. Because we don't have the cap space to keep him. We'd actually forfeit draft picks or have to cut him.
Bachelors3
He'll sign with Mangini and the Browns. After all, Eric named his son after him.

They don't have enough money to carry him. They need the cap space to sign the rookies. EDIT: Oops, didn't see EY had already posted this.

Klecko73isGod
Way to go Jets getting nothing in return..what a joke Are you kidding? Did you read the thread at all? Jets don't have the cap room to keep a RETIRED 40-year-old QB, who reiterated that he plans on staying retired yesterday, on the roster. Their choices are simple, surrender 2010 draft picks or cut the RETIRED 40-year-old QB.
4HCrew
I read the thread...from what I understand he is not on their cap until he decides to come back. Once he decides that, the Jets would have to reinstate him, when they could then trade him

SMC
I read the thread...from what I understand he is not on their cap until he decides to come back. Once he decides that, the Jets would have to reinstate him, when they could then trade him You don't get it, do you 4H? The moment the NFL reinstates him the Jets have to have $13 million in available cap space. For that minute, hour, day, or week he is on the roster he counts for $13 million in cap space until he is traded. The Jets could have a trade in the works, Favre gets reinstated and traded within 5 minutes, but the Jets would have had to have $13 million in cap space for those 5 minutes meaning they'd have to restructure players (screwing up future cap space) or cut players and hope to re-sign them. Do you get it now? The Packers were over $20 million under the cap with Favre's $12 million on it. That's why they were able to hold on to him for the trade.
