Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 3, 2009 Sweep! * why didnt you just bump the old Redsox/Yankee thread? Because it was played at Fenway Park
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 4, 2009 If we ever get this game in, here is the Yankee lineup. 1. Derek Jeter SS 2. Johnny Damon LF 3. Mark Teixeira 1B 4. Nick Swisher RF 5. Robinson Cano 2B 6. Jorge Posada DH 7. Melky Cabrera CF 8. Jose Molina C 9. Angel Berroa 3B Pitching: RHP Phil Hughes (1-0, 0.00)
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 4, 2009 Do you think they'll be able to get it in? I'm less than 15 miles from Yankee Stadium, and it's not raining now, I'm hopeful.. but there is more rain in the forecast.
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 4, 2009 This game will be probably be delayed, but it appears the rain will stop around 7.
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 4, 2009 Poor Joba. Joba Chamberlain's mother is jailed in Nebraska and facing a felony charge after being arrested on suspicion of selling methamphetamine to an undercover police officer in February. As if the DUI arrest wasn't embarrassing enough. Lincoln Police Capt. David Beggs said that 44-year-old Jacqueline Standley was arrested at her apartment Saturday night. She allegedly sold one gram of a substance believed to be meth to an uncover officer for $110 on Feb. 11. The substance tested positive for meth in testing at the state laboratory. Chances are he could careless about his mother, she walked out on him and his father when he was just a little boy.
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 4, 2009 I know....still he doesn't need this. Yeah, I'm sure he doesn't want to be answering questions about this.
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 I heard this happened because she's a clairvoyant, and even when he was a small child, she predicted he would be a bust someday with the Yankees. The meth sales are her way of deadening the pain of seeing her prophecy come to light. Dumb.. Joba has a 2.85 ERA as a starter, and 1.53 ERA has a reliever
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 Tarp is coming off the field. First pitch is at 9:20.
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 (edited) Phil Hughes should take notes on how a real young pitcher looks. You mean the pitcher who entered the game with a 5.40 earned run average? Edited May 5, 2009 by Tyler Durden
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 I think he means compare a 25 year pitcher with 4 years of major league experience to a 22 year old with 20 career starts. Same thing really Oh okay...
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 Ahh...the "hes a slow starter" excuse. 1-8-0 million dollars. Teixiera has been a complete disaster so far. Time to stop sugar coating it. The team, the Stadium have both been complete diasasters so far. The Red Sox are so far and away a better team is sickening. I love the stadium, can't wait to go again tomorrow.
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Boston is one game ahead of the Yankees right now. You're completely overreacting on MAY 4. You can not make an informed decision on Teixeira's Yankee career 4 weeks into it. It's completely moronic. I wonder what the thought of Tino Martinez on May 4th in 1996. Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 Lets see here: Phil Hughes 2007: 5-3, 4.46 ERA 2008: 0-4, 6.62 ERA 2009: 1-1 (The L is coming), ??? ERA Jon Lester 2006: 7-2, 4.76 ERA 2007: 4-0, 4.57 ERA 2008: 16-6, 3.21 ERA 2009: 2-2 (The W is coming), ??? ERA Only one more season than Hughes, and he had to battle cancer. Yankee fans who back this joke need to jump off the nearest bridge. He is a disgrace to our team. And to think we could've had Johan Santana. Why are you comparing a 22 year old to a 25 year old? Get a clue.
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 Probably see Alfredo Aceves the rest of this one.
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 Are you guys seriously blaming this game on Hughes? Blame this game for the people who even got it started over TWO HOURS after it was supposed to. A lot of factors played into Hughes outing, I wouldn't blame the start time as one of them. Lester is throwing perfectly fine. A combination of a lack of control, horribly inconsistent strike zone, and cheap garbage hits.
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 Age has NOTHING to do with it. Get a clue. Years of experience does matter. 3 to 4 is a much smaller difference and the more realistic way of looking at things. Lester has around 300 major league innings on Hughes, if you don't think that has any baring, than you are absolutely clueless.
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 When is the last time the Yankees were really a "team" and not a bunch of individuals? Explain to me how the Sox are team and the Yankees are "bunch of individuals". I'd love to hear it...
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 (edited) He's always performed well against the yankees. He's a great prospect and so far has shown more the Hughes, sorry TD. Lester is not a prospect (neither is Hughes by the way), hasn't been for a long time. He's 25 year old with almost 400 major league innings under his belt, sorry V89x Edited May 5, 2009 by Tyler Durden
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 My bad baseball knowledge god. He's a real starting pitcher. Hughes is not, I guess he's a prospect. Hughes isn't technically a prospect either, but he's still 22 years old, with far less experience than Jon Lester. It doesn't take a baseball God to understand that, it only takes a little bit of common sense.
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 (edited) I'm not going to explain it to you if you can't see it. Example 1: A-Rod is being roasted and toasted in the media and only Girardi has said anything. Papi is being called out for having a horrible season hitting the ball, but you can read many of teammates sticking up for him. You're going to need another reason because you're wrong. I've already read Nick Swisher stick up for him, and that's only on the top of my head. EDIT: Teixeira as well. Edited May 5, 2009 by Tyler Durden
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 That made me LOL, because those 2 guys don't know him. No offense. Yeah.. Mark Teixeira doesn't know A-Rod, even though he's played with him in Texas and now NY, and they have the same agent.
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 Teixeira cannot wait for A-Rod to get back and take the limelight off of him and his below the mendoza batting average. I stick by my statement, whether you want to believe it or not. Although I am encouraged you're around posting this evening as you were quite absent during the last series. -You're going to stick by your statement even though I proved you wrong? -Sorry that I had things to do over a beautiful weekend. Loser.
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 My bad baseball knowledge god. Mistake on my part, but even you have to admit the A-ROD circus in New York is nothing like it was in Texas. What does that have to do with anything? Carl said no one has spoke out in support of A-Rod. That simply isn't true.
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 -You didn't prove to me that the Yankees are a team. -I'm sure you did. So did I. I, however, am not ashamed of my team win or lose and can take my lumps. Yeah, I'm ashamed of my team when the lose, yeah exactly... that's why I'm fighting off all the fair-weather fans in here tonight.
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 You seem like a very passionate fan, which is cool, but have you ever been wrong before? It's not my fault that you (admittedly) made a mistake.
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 (edited) Damons ball would of been out at the old stadium.. not sure why anyone's complaining. Fenway has the Mickey Mouse wall in LF that's 200 feet away, and that p*ssy pole, we have our short porch. Edited May 5, 2009 by Tyler Durden
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 RALLY!!!!!!!!!!!! This team is garbage... remember
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 I hope the 2nd inning doesn't comeback to haunt us. 1st and 3rd with 1 out and we come up empty.
Morrissey 12,992 Posted May 5, 2009 The Monster steals as many homeruns as it "produces." It almost produces singles and doubles that should be outs.
