Man, reading through this thread, there certainly are a lot of Yankees fans that I really wish would go back into the hiding they were in prior to 1996.

I mean, if you're going to jump on the bandwagon when things are going great, you need to stay on when the road gets a little rocky too.

Not the mention that the gloom and doom here is way over the top. This is still a very, very good team that can do a lot of damage this year.

For the record, by personal and all other accounts, people have been treated great by the Stadium staff. More than accomodating. Yeah, maybe there's a couple of overaggressive security douches out there you may have come across. Or maybe you're just acting like a drunk douche yourself and getting the treatment you deserve. Doesn't mean there isn't a whole lot of out here LOVING the New Yankee Stadium experience.

If you hate this gorgeous stadium, the team ownership (that has provided you 6 championships and endless other accomplishments), the "feel" of the team, the manager, the uniforms, and every other little nitpicky nonsense, then take a walk and go root for someone else.

You'd be doing the rest of us a real service.

I'm not sure who you're referring to but here's my view on the subject.

You have fans who will eat the sh*t of their team and like

You have fans who will eat the sh*t but realize it's sh*t

You have fans who could be offered a rib eye steak but will chose to eat sh*t to continually piss and moan about something.

I know there are things wrong with this team. I know so far this year, the Red Sox own us. I know that we have a ton of injuries and we are an expensive team where hatred for the wealthy is at an all time high and the Yankees are a symbol of decadence.

But their my team, and I think there's a **** ton of potential on this roster. I get annoyed, I'm human, but I cheer for the Yankees and when their on the field I want them to win.

This is downright retarded. Percentage? Really? You think that is a legitimate comparison?

Maybe if the Mets were at 100%, meaning there were fans that WANTED to attend Mets games but physically CAN'T due to availablility, then you could make a case.

But the fact that there are empty seats means that the TOTAL NUMBER is all that matters. And the Yankees sell more tickets than the Mets. Bottom line.

End of story and 4th grade math lesson.

Fact-There are 5 other teams in MLB that sell out a greater percent of their seats than the Yankees.

Another fact-I don't really care.

I was just guiding a misguided principal by TD as he was using numbers that did not pertain to the discussion at hand.

Do the attendance numbers mean people who actually show up or is it like the NFL when they count tickets sold as the attendance?

I disagree. If someone personally attacks me, then I'll go right ahead and do the same.

Ban me if you like, I really don't give a sh*t.

Being called a homer is being attacked? how old are you?

They just count ticket ssold.

For a good number of years, the NL counted only people who showed up. They finally changed that.

Thats a crock. In the box score they should list tickets sold and tickets scanned.

How many times have we seen games at Dolphin Stadium with thousands upon thousands of empty seats called a sellout?

Yeah you read in the papers attendance of 45,000 for stadiums when the place is half full. I like to see actually number of people that show up.

If you hate this "gorgeous" new Stadium, you're not a real fan.

If security ws giving you a problem for trying to take a picture- you were probably drunk.

Randy Levine, is that you?

Gillette Stadium was "gorgeous" when it opened in 2002. That doesn't discount the fact the there was a severe lack of mens bathrooms and getting in to the Stadium was a mess.

When I complained about it my fellows Pats fans agreed that it was terrible. The Patriots listened and all was taken care of in the next couple of seasons.

Homers are the best. No matter what the ownership/team does all is good

It doesn't make you less of a fan if you complain about things that negatively impact your game day experience.

There are so many kinks to work out of a new stadium, everything can't be thought of.

Some people here are confusing the stadium for the team, and not allowing any comments based on what people are feeling and seeing is silly

I just dont like the new Stadium and the direction the organization is headed....sue me.

I liked the feel of the old Stadium....being cramped, the noise, the energy. It just isnt there anymore.

Spoiled? I liked the dark damp stadium better than this Epcot Center thing we have now.

But, Im acting spoiled...right.

You, for the most part, are on the same page as I am.

There are a few other excessively annoyingly negative party poopers who clearly haven't got the first clue what they're talking about. It's evident who has lived through the Wayne Tolleson-Alvaro Espinoza-Chuck Cary years and who hasn't.

Well said. Some posters think criticizing the stadium = criticizing the team. That isn't the case at all.

I haven't heard many complaints about Citi Field. Have you heard anything?

For what it's worth I think the Yankees need to train their support staff and security people to shut up if they don't know what is going on.

What happened to Matt39 after a game was ridiculous.

There are enough complaints about Citi also:

-sight lines.

-met items displayed.

Discussing those and saying what you feel does not constitute tearing down the team.

TD and a few others feel that they have the duty to protect all that is Yankees.

It's like the emperor's clothes.

If there is one thing you have to admit is that the stadium WAS part of the team. There were very few places like it and I'm sure that's what some people are "struggling" to deal with. It's been in the Bronx forever.. and you can even say many generations of fans passed through the halls.

I for one am glad I was able to grow up watching the Yanks in the old stadium. And I am also glad... and I'm sure it's going to be an incredible experience... when I bring my son to the new place for the first time. I'm sure the wonderment in his eyes will make it a special place for me.

Some people just have that Dana Carvey "Grumpy old man" mentality. Everything was better the old way.

My only point is in this case that we don't know the circumstances of M39's story. How many times have you seen a fan acting up, being escorted out, acting completely outraged and righteous, and you know he went home and blamed the mean security guard for whatever happened.

I'm not saying that's what happened here. But maybe something similar did. Or didn't. That's the point. Each instance is exactly that. An isolated incident from the perspective of one person.

Just because M39 has one bad experience, doesn't mean the whole place needs and overhaul and retraining of the staff and security. Not for nothing, but try being a sports stadium security guard anywhere in this country. Deal with the drunk idiots all over and see how you feel about it.

To make a total decision on the new place based on one incident is silly. Just as silly as judging Teixeira as a failure based on four weeks of work, 3 of which he spent playing injured.

Overall, I've had nothing but good experiences so far. Some of the best I've ever had at any stadium. Many others agree. I love the new Stadium.

Shea was one of those awful multi-purpose crap Stadiums built in the '60's like Three Rivers, Riverfront, etc. I went to a Pats/Steelers game in 1994 and couldn't see from the 10 yard line to the endzone where I sat.

Are the sight lines that bad at Citi? The lack of Mets items needs to be taken up with ownership.

Here are the negatives I've read about the new Yankee Stadium:

- Ridiculous prices to sit down low between 1st and 3rd.

- Uninformed & overly aggressive security/staff.

- HR's are flying out of the place.

I can totally get that.

If I was a yankee fan, they would have carried me kicking and screaming out of that Stadium, and the new one would need time for it to grow on me.

Perfectly understandable

I've been to Citifield as well, and I'd have to say that I think the sightline thing is blown way out of proportion. Citifield is sweet. It reminded me a bit of Philly's new stadium, but I think in some ways it fell just short of that one.

But in comparison to Shea, it is a one million times improvement. Mets fans should be psyched.

I haven't heard a bad thing about the new Yankee Stadium sight lines at all so thats a good thing. I went to old Yankee Stadium twice. Sat in the bleachers once (bleachers are what they are) and then way up top in right field. Talk about vertigo and bad sight lines! Those seats were horrible.

I think we can all agree Shea was a dump.

Both the Mets and Yankees will work out the kinks with their new Stadiums and all will be good.

Lived through that awfulness. And I appreciate how good this team has been since.

Problem I have is that it seems we now have a risk-averse player development program. So instead of players siezing the moment-like Jon Lester, Papelbon, Youkilis, Pedroia have-we get guys like Ian Kennedy and Phil Hughes, who clearly DON'T GET IT.They, along with the bullpen guys not named Rivera or Bruney seem to be scared sheetless to throw a strike. The pitching philosophy we seem to ping pong between strikeouts are good to pitch to contact. It even seems some of this idiocy has rubbed off on Sabbathia and Burnett. There seems to be some idea that the Yanks can turn everyone into Wang. And then invariably find themselves paying top dollar for strikeout guys because they don't develop them.

We also guys like Chamberlain and Cano who have had some success but still don't fully grasp what it takes to be a full-time MLB player. Which is how Cabrera got benched and Melky lost his job, or Joba shows up looking like he closed more than his share of bars and hit the drive thru afterward. We haven't won a damn thing worth bragging about since 2000. Enouhg of the strutting about until yoi really win something.

Half think Phil Hughes ands Ian Kennedy and every other Yankee pitcher should be running laps after the game if they walk batters, especially down in the order guys. It's why this team gets blown out at least once very series.

I went to the first games at Citizens Bank park (am still a ticket season holder) and right away there were things that were just off:

-You could not see the numbers on the scoreboard facade (the background was not contrasting from the numbers), and it was tough to tell the count.

-You could not hear announcements in all parts of the stadium.

-Of course, the idea of having the visitor's bullpen so close to the fans was a huge mistake (or was it)

But they eventually got these things worked out.

Opening a stadium, hosting upwards of 50,000 people is a task of epic proportions. And not everyone is going to get it right. And not everyone is going to be trained properly

Their will always be kinks to work out at a new Stadium so I agree 100%.

I don't buy the "trained properly" part as the older Stadiums (The Vet, old Yankee Stadium, Foxboro Stadium, Shea, etc) were much worse places to control a crowd.

If anything the security should have a much better grasp on what is going on. From my 7 years of going to Gillette there are many more security people than what we ever had at Foxboro.

The game was over and I simply tried to meet some friends for pictures. Do you work for the Yankees or something?

The energy of the new Stadium is poor. Maybe it will grow in time, but to me, the Yankees have completely ruined their home field advantage. The Old Stadium intimidated people, the Disney World atmpsphere doesnt.

Don't they both have obstructed view seats? By obstructed view I mean you cannot see a good portion of the field?
