NJWARRIOR
Well, at least there is upside for the trainers on each team....they'll have somebody to play nurse-maid to ...just a different name on the chart. Big mistake lump of Coles not getting the Toe surgery. He has clearly lost some explosiveness. Hey, if you are really a "superstar" and you touch the ball 90 times, you have to make something happen at least once...even if you do it all by your "superstar" self. Coles' one TD catch came from a trick play from PORTIS! MAXMAN could have reeled that thing in! Yes, the Skin's "O" was offensive, anemic, and here's the buzz-word...."CONSERVATIVE". Coles wanted out, because it was too conservative. Is he kidding? He went to the J-E-T-S what's it spell? That's right boys and Jets fans...that would be CONSERVATIVE!! Come on people...That junk is Seinfeld funny!!
Maxman
First of all Welcome NJ Warrior! Now on to the good stuff. How big are the sidelines in Washington these days? I worry about the other players getting hurt. Moss has some serious lateral explosiveness. I just hope he doesn't hurt any of his own teammates! Coles had a lot of touches last year. Gibbs offense is about as creative as Lombardi's at this point. That is why he didn't put up big numbers. But with Dinger running the O for the Jets, he wanted to get tougher. Moss is not tough, and that is why he is gone! You are right about the toe. As Jets fans we hope this is not a problem for him next season. (Hey I moved this to the NFL Forum btw). Welcome again...we look forward to hearing your insightful Redskins stories!

GimmeShelter
how the hell can you blame coles when his QBs were Brunnel and Ramsey? Actually Ramsey has all the tools. He just needs the light bulb to click on much like it did for Brees this past season. Of course it would also help if Gibbs took the training wheels off and let him air it out a bit. NJWARRIOR
Hey, I didn't say the Brunell disaster had anything to do with it, and I think if Spurrier hadn't ruined Ramsey's head and most of his bones, he'd be a much better player already. TBD.. What I was alluding to, and I guess I have to re-hash it is...I said Coles lost explosiveness. If you are an elite player and touch the rock 90 times, you better deliver something other than 10 yards and drop, "even if you have to do it on your opn" I saw this guy play at a different speed the first year. Whether it was this year of Gibbs with Brunell or Ramsey, or last year of "the 'Ol Ball Coach" and that Carousel of QB's he had, it's been the same. Coles has lost that edge he had coming from the Jets and for the first year as a Skins. He was a threat...and he should have gone uner the knife. He can take a hit though...so he should have gotten along famously with Ramsey.

Sure he didn't make many plays after the catch last year but in reality he never did. Do you blame the lack of production of C Portis on his lack of explosion as well? Wanted to win?? Seemed dedicated?? WTF are you watching? The guy ran strught for the sideline as fast as possible to avoid getting hit. He's a giant vagina and Coles will out produce Mini Iverson from here on out.
bigdaddyms1
This is a great move, Santana Moss is nothing to write home about and there was a synergy missing the last 2 years with Coles down with the Redskins. He had 2 very good seasons with a lot of different QBs and with Spurrier playing musical QB 2 years ago.

NJWARRIOR
Coles was a move the chains type for the Jets because that is how they used him, and that's pretty much Chad's range. He was much more than that his first year as a Skin, but not his second...and definitely not in his third. He's got tons of heart, but he should have had his bad wheel fixed. As for the comment on portis....ridiculous. 1300 yards and he didn't even play in the final game. Hardly a dissapointment. He should have a great year with Jansen back and athletic center who should fit nicely in Gibbs running attack. Not too sure How Moss will pay off. Have never really been a fan, but rather have him than anyone who doesn't want to be there. As your boy Randy Thomas said..."you don't want to be here...stay home". You traded a franchise DB for a RB....RB's are a dime a dozen, especially little guys like Fragile Clinton Protis....When is he gonna play a full season? Anyway....you got the shaft both ways....Signing all those Jets made you loose several "Core redskins" ....Now you lost Coles & the 1st rd pick he cost you....and to top it off you paid coles for us,and his bouns....now you will pay Moss too. If the skins had half a brain they would have made the jets sign Moss to a long term deal before they traded for him, insisting the Jets pick up the SB like the skins did for coles. Dan SNyder is an idiot. Have fun paying Moss

Not really rediculous when you consider Portis had his worst year as a professional from a ypc standpoint (was 5.5, last year 3.8) a touchdown (15, 14, last year 5) and carries over 20 yards (11, 13, last year 5) yards also dropped by 200. But no need to really mention him. Everyone here knew he was a system back anyway. Just look at Ruben Droughns. So I guess maybe the big play problem wasn't limited to Coles last year? Anyway you lose all credibility with me when you say Coles was a big play WR. He does and always has caught the ball with his chest while leaving his feet. Making him a poor candidate to take a slant the distance. You are probably the same guy who was here 2 years ago claiming the skins were going to the Bowl after robbing the Jets. NJWARRIOR
Yes, lack of big plays across the board from the Skins, but you, I believe will see more of the same from Coles this year. He has not been 100% and these toe injuries nag. If you just want 10 yards, you got your guy back. Seems to me, shutdown corners are more and more a thing of the past. Champ did not have a great year, and his stats are actually dropping, with last two years being flat. I won't disagree....I wasn't a proponent of Champ for Portis ( I saw the scheme worked too), but Portis has game. When they started to hit him off tackle more as year went on he had some good games and great cut-backs. With a full line this year, he will have success. Was I one of the fans saying that those three Jets would take them to the superbowl? Nope....I gave up on the quick fix after the Bruce Smith, Deion, etc etc team some years back. NJWARRIOR
And....you won't catch me defending Snyders moves...with exception of getting Gibbs back. This will be the first year in 5 years, they will have the same Defenisive coordinator. I know the problem was with the O this year, but it's symptomatic of the greater problem. No continuity...roster or staff. They should have a healthy O-line...barring any pre-season disasters, and that will make a big difference. You all can tell me more about Moss, but if Coles doesn't want to play here, that's fine with me. He's not breaking anything open anyways.
