JonEJet
I lived in Boston at that time You had no QB, but you did have Fryer and Dykes John Stephens at back And of course, Jason Staurofsky kicking
#27TheDominator
Jets managed to win a game with Kotite coaching. Obviously they were a ten win team with anybody else.
SMC
I voted the Jets. The 1990 Pats team was the worst team ever. That includes the 0-14 Bucs and 0-16 Lions. That team was historically bad. I didn't really pay attention to how bad they were until a Pats fan told me to check it out. I did and was blown away at how bad that team was. They averaged 11 ppg! chris66
That was a bad team. Rod Rust should have stayed as a dc.
RSJ
I'm going to have to think about it before I vote. This is a very close call.
PFSIKH
I lived in Boston at that time You had no QB, but you did have Fryer and Dykes John Stephens at back And of course, Jason Staurofsky kicking Well, that tips the balance. The Jets were better. That Patriots team was bad. When a 37yo Steve Grogan is your best QB, you are historically bad. I agree with SMC. This Patriots team is in consideration for if not the worst team of all time.
jason423
That Patriots team was so bad. Every week when I watched the "highlights" it was just awful. The 96 Jets were horribly coached, but still managed to be in a few games and typically snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. You could probably argue that with a better coach the 96 Jets win 4 or 5 games. New Englands 1990 squad would probably max out at 2.
nyjunc
Both teams were brutal but we actually had some talent as proven the following year going 9-7 and NE had the Lisa Olsen controversy as well as other off field problems. If they played they'd probably play to a 0-0 tie but the '90 Pats were worse b/c of everything else involved.

The only thing NEP had that argueable made their season not as horrible as Jet '96 or Dolphins '07 is they got the one win in early in the season so there was never talk of is the team bad enough to go all season without a single win. It was an upset in beating the 7-9 Colts that year.

GodWearsAGrayHoodie
Instead, that Pats team went on a 15 game losing streak. Yep, that's certainly better. It was only 14. And the 1990 NEP were truely aweful and I voted the 96 Jets weren't as bad. I am just sayin the one and only saving grace as a fan is there was never any talk of the '90 Pats joining the Bucs, like there was with the Jets or Fins. Bergen Jet
The Jets had more talent and with a decent coach they could have won as many as 5 or 6 games IMO. The Patriots were just brutal back then. The Jets were atleast in half of their games. The only teams the Pats were competitive with all year were the Colts and a decent Dolfags team. Marc Wilson, Steve Grogan & Tom Hodson started games at QB that year. The only home game shown on TV was the final game against the Giants when the Stadium was 80% Giants fans. 1989-1992 was a brutal stretch to be a Pats fan as the franchise was an embarrassment from the Ownership (Victor Kiam then James Orthwein) down to the players. The only reason this thread was started was because Blackout started a bunch of "Who is Better" threads that were awful. For those of us over the age of 35 this is actually a pretty decent thread. BTW: The 1996 Jets would have crushed the 1990 Pats.

Oh yeah which is better 90 Pats vs 96 Jets is infininately a more interesting disucssion than 98 Jets vs 68 Jets. I am sure for every Pats and Jets fan the first game play in historical mode on Madden is the 90 Pats vs 96 Jets to see who was truely the worst of the worst. I really doubt any Jets fan would waste time on 98 Jets vs 68 Jets. /saracsim off

Ironic how both 1-15 seasons eventually led to Par$ells and our respective teams most successful periods.
