Ghost
Am I the only one that is interested in us getting this guy? His court date is on Jun. 15 and I sure hope they can let him off the hook for the 2009 season. He'll pretty much be slapped with a 4-game suspension. I think this guy is one of the best receivers off the play-action. I'm willing to take a risk on this guy.
124
We've had several threads on Burress, it isn't just you and me, and I think if you've watched the NFL at all since 2000, you would love to have Plaxico Burress on your team. Anyone in the NJ/NY area should realize that Burress made Sheli Manning, Burress could make Brooks Bollinger look good. Bringing him in would only help Clemens or Sanchez. If he is eligible to play during the 2009 season, the Jets would be stupid not to bring him in. Thankfully we are 1 of 3 teams that are currently showing interest. If you don't want Burress on your team, you're obviously not interested in winning football games. When healthy there arn't many receivers I'd rather have. 124
Did we just agree on something? Yes. I love Burress. He is the man. Back in 2000 all I wanted was for the Jets to take Burress. Instead we go and take Abraham, Ellis, Pennington & Becht.
PS17
I am right behind you again here. I think he is a complete retard of a human specimen, but his WR talent is elite. There's that word again. But really, I'd do it for Sanchez & the rest of the O. We would be transformed from bad to good, on the offensive side of the ball - instantly. Ghost
Teams are going to think we're going to run pretty much every down. We need another wideout other than Cotch.
124
I remember this guy NEVER used to practice and still put up numbers. He didn't practice because he was hurt. He was playing at about 70%. Without Burress, Eli Manning might not be in New York right now. Sheli better hope one of the young unproven receivers steps it up, or else he'll start getting exposed for what he really is. He had his shot [HAH]. He is a moron. He had a plea deal where he could have gone to jail for 3 months, and he turned it down. He will most likely rot now for a while in the can. He will most likely rot now for a while in the can. Doubt it. At most he will spend 2 or 3 months in jail, but I will be shocked if he's in jail at all. Burress will find a way out, or at least a way to play football in 2009 and delay trial until next year. June 15th we'll know whats going in as far as Burress' football career for the 2009 season. Hopefully by July 31st he's in a Jet uniform.

MasonJet
The Jets current wideout situation really gives them no choice but to try and sign Burress as long as he's not too busy being in jail.
Irish Jet
BTW I absolutely agree that if he can avoid jail, then you absolutely have to sign him. I'm actually still a little miffed we didn't make a bigger run for TO.

Were the Owens sweepstakes before or after Coles was cut? Pretty sure it was after. Whatever you can say about Owens as a person, he simply plays football and gives 100% on the field. He's not Randy Moss. I'm even more pissed that he ended up on the Bills.

bitonti
assuming he beats the rap, why would Plexico want to stay in town? Chicago will pay through the roof, their running game is overrated and they just took on Cutler and Orlando Pace. That team will beat any offer the Jets have to make, JMO. it's either the Bears or jail, my prediction
