BroadwayJ667
So much for Rex Ryan soft-pedaling Channing Crowder's rant the other day on Ryan's big talk about his new team. In response to Ryan predicting his team would win a Super Bowl at his introductory press conference in January, and then saying he didn't plan to kiss Bill Belichick's Super Bowl rings last week, Crowder bristled to Dolphins reporters last Friday: "Oh, he's going crazy. He's going absolutely nuts. I know it's his first chance to be a head coach, and I know he's excited about life. But, like I said, I've never played a football game in June in my whole life. So congratulations to him. He's the OTA, the OTA Super Bowl winner." Ryan didn't wait to address the remarks. In fact, in his just-concluded presser following a mini-camp practice - and with his father, former Eagles and Cardinals coach Buddy Ryan sitting in on the press conference - Rex Ryan brought the Crowder comments up before anyone asked. Klecko73isGod
I just have two questions: 1. Just how big a ***** is Channing Crowder? What Ryan said wasn't all that bad. 2. If this is what Crowder thinks of Ryan's comments, what does he think of his teammate Joey Porter anointing the Dolphins as division champs for 2009 and the team to beat in the division? Joey's comments were certainly bolder than Ryan's.

I generally think Rex's comments are funny and entertaining, but I tend to agree with you on this one. Crowder is a mediocre player who reads on a 4th grade level. You ruffled his feathers, ok, great...why get into a public pissing contest with him? You made your point, now take the high road and let it go. dbatesman
Maybe Rex is just trying to keep making headlines because the offseason is so sloooowwwww. That's fine with me...it's definitely making things go faster. And I respect the idea that he's trying to get the team fired up, while putting the pressure on himself rather than them (kind of like when a baseball manager throws a tantrum when his team is getting their ass kicked). That said, it comes off really poorly for an NFL head coach to get into a public spat with Channing ****ing Crowder.

I'd put Moss as #2 to Rice at the very worst. Also, I see a huge difference between players talking crap (Moss and Porter) and the HC. I just think it's unprofessional and corny from a HC, especially a HC in response to a mid-level at best player. That said, Rex is probably just doing what he's told and throwing a bunch of fan fodder quotes out there for people to snack on until TC. I'd still feel alot more comfortable about our team if it was the players doing the trash talking and not the friggin n00b HC.
Garb
Personally, if players want to pop off - hey go for it. You are either 'gonna look like an idiot or become a fanbase's hero. When an HC pops off - well, it shows lack of dicipline. Swagger is one thing. Stupid is another. I tend to like the quiet approach and when all is said and done - shove the opponents face in it. Example? The Pats/Eagles SB. Eagles popping off all pre-game - Pats doing the bird flapping wing dance during the game. Live by words, die by words. Brady had a smirk and a half-lame wise crack when he was told that Burress (?) said the Pats won't score more than 14 points in the sb....well, that got shoved down his throat, right? I just think it's best to say nothing AND THEN kick some a@@.

SouthernJet
This is the rocket scientist we are talking about here Thursday, October 25, 2007 Snow White Don't Know Nothin About No London Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder is a funny man, that is him in that outfit, someone needs to give him a blog. He was interviewed yesterday and told the reporter that he didn't know they spoke English in London and more. New York Mick
Crowder is another bitch. I wish he played offense. I'm glad he's on D lets see what he does with Richardson and Greene. A guy on O can hit just as hard as a guy on D. Nothing better then watching a loud mouth defender get knocked on his ass by a FB or Oline or get run over by a powerback. Not sure if that was necessary. I think whether some people want to admit it or not here, if you wanna be the man you gotta beat the man. The Pats have been the kingpins and lost last year by the skin of their teeth without their franchise QB. For me, I took it as simply, I'm not scare of him, we're gonna play them and play them tough. It's a statement that IMO, is meant to bitch slap this team out of that loser culture we seem to have when it comes to your team.

Rex Ryan is doing the same thing for the Jets that Brett Favre did for the Jets -- get the team in the news. Last year Brett Favre was brought in so the Jets could compete with the champion New York Giants for the lead football story in New York. And Brett Favre did his job. It was successful, the Jets were often the lead sport story beating out the Giants, Yankees, Mets, Rangers, etc. This year once again more folks are talking about the Jets than the Giants, which is why Woody hired Rex. Winning games may or may not happen, but the Jet will be in the news this season. Week 2, it doesn't matter what happens in the Giants-Dallas game, the back page of the News and of the Post will be about the Jets game. Either congradulating Rex on not kissing a ring or making Rex the butt of many jokes...but either way the ring kissing or not kissing of a ring will be what folks are talking about.
