LOL!!

A piece of the transcipt from BB's post mini-camp session presser today:

Q: Considering his recent comments, how fun is it having Rex Ryan in the division now?

BB: I have a lot of respect for Rex. What he did in Baltimore – the defense his team has played. We’ve always had great battles with the Jets, so I’m sure that will continue. It’s a good rivalry. They beat us up here last year. They kind of got the last punch in on that one, so we will have to…It’s a new year. Right now we are more focused on Buffalo than any other team in the division because we open with them, but we know we are going to have to deal with Miami and the Jets as well and we have a lot of respect for all those teams.

Q: Has there been more talking this year than normal? You look at Rex Ryan and the Miami Dolphins players talking about their routine.

BB: Oh, I don’t know. Right now I’m just trying to coach our team and get our guys ready to have a good week of practice and get them ready for training camp. That’s really what we’re up for is getting our team ready and when it’s time to play we will show up to play

 - just the way I like it.

BB can afford to do that Garb, he's got the wins, rings, the resume.

We had this guy come here and try and be a BB Junior, and be like that and guess what, it sucked, he sucked, and he turned our team into a bunch of schizo, paranoid losers. I'd rather deal with dumb comments that get this team to believe in itself.

I understand that. However, I think the best way to get a team to beleive in itself is to win consistently. Say the Jets win 10, 11 games this year - that helps a whole lot more than giving last stand at the alamo type sound bite. Conversely, if the Jets win 5-6 games he's 'gonna look like an ass and his credibility takes a hit.

BB dissed both the Jets and the Dolphins. He is more worried about the Bills than he is either the Fins or Jets.

Yes, making a point to say "we have a lot of respect" for the teams in question is very disrespectful. :confused0085:

What is the matter with the trolls here today? Did you not eat your Wheaties this morning? Forget how to read all of a sudden?

Problem is that he wasn't here last year to win 10 or 11 games. The team certainly had the talent to win 11 games last year, but collapsed down the stretch due to Favre and Mangini's 3 man pass rush. All the swaggerlicious crap is about rebuilding the teams confidence after that epic meltdown. I have no problem with what he said about New England- that he isn't intimidated by them and expects to beat them. The Crowder pissing match, not so much.

It's true... but also consider the circumstances that the remaining roster went through.

- Acquired a "gunslinger"

- Went 8-3, with a thorough defeat of the Titans, at their house

- Completely and utter melt down

- Miss playoffs by getting waxed at home by a hated division rival

This team was destroyed by the end of the year. Mangini made it worse by never seemingly getting this team ready, and every week it felt like "not again." So Rex is going out there and trying to rile the troops up and buy into it now.

I don't disagree with your assessment though, and I think we can agree witht his. If the Jets win next year "Rex is great, he's a motivational genius, the Jets are a totally different team due to Ryan". If the Jets lose "Rex is just another loud-mouthed idiot who should focus on nothing more then coaching."

He is putting himself on the line out there with his comments no doubt... but for now it's refreshing considering what we just had. That's the nature of the NFL, if BB wasn't successful, he'd be ripped for not being "emotional" enough.

I agree with you Garb. As long as Rex can produce and bring us 10 or more wins and bring us back to the status of contenders he can run his mouth 24/7 for all I care.

You know what Garb, based on the general level of reading comprehension displayed by your brethren, one can hardly hold me at fault.

I don't get you trolls. You know you don't have to defend other Chowd's here, right? We won't report you to the home office.

I mean the big excuse you people use for posting on this and other Jets sites is that all the Pats boards are boring circle jerks.

You are allowed to disagree with another troll here. I mean I understand that you come from a repressive regime and all but we have freedom here.

It's called loyalty. I'm not sure why I'm like this. I'm not even sure if it's a good quality anymore either. Also, I like busting your chops.

Meh, losing was just as frustrating when our last coach talked about the team the same exact way. At least it's nice to read some funny banter a few times per week now.

That's what I was trying to say. It's refreshing even if I dont' exactly agree with it.

Kevin Mawae once had the best reasoning behind trash talking ever. I forget who did the interview, some lady, but they asked him about spouting off on the Dolphins in a segment a few days before the game, and the interviewer asked him whether or not he was worried about firing the Dolphins up with that type of talk.

Anyways, Mawae just looks at the chick, and says: "Why? Is Zach Thomas going to hit me harder or something?"

On top of that, this is the mentality that Ryan-teams have, especially Rex's. The same attitude that Rex and Scott have been preaching is identical to what's been rampant in Baltimore since forever. Nothin' wrong with a little swagger, and I'm surprised that any Jets fan has a problem with it after dealing with Herm and Mangini for the past 8 years. It's pretty damn refreshing if you ask me.

People seem to forget sometimes that the Patriot way isn't the only right way to do things.

Agree, and I will fully admit that the part of me that doesn't agree with it is the loser part of me that is afraid of him looking like an idiot. Sometimes you dont' let yourself believe in something because you're afraid of well, a repeat of last season and all that.

But I completely agree, I said it in another thread but it's like taking that line from Boiler Room "Act as if you have a 9 inch ****". Just own it, have that swagger, believe in yourself.

And god Mangini's way which was him trying to be a BB clone made me want to strangle him... I'm an emotional guy so to see someone in a competitive atmosphere void of emotion... drove me nuts.

Exactly. It's a press conference. You can go about it two ways. You can act like you don't want to be there, as BB/Mangini do, or you can have fun, as Ryan is.

Either way, you've got to do them, it really doesn't matter.

Trolls just have nothing better to do this time of year it seems. Honestly, get a life.

Wish I could say the same for you Belicheat.

This guy is on every teams nuts a week before he has to play them. I guess it's his fiendish attempt to lull the opponent into a false sense of security.. silly Belicheat.

Make that two dumb fish.

Ah, isn't backdoor psychology fun?

Spew some crap, and if it takes, you accomplish your 'mission'.

If it doesn't work, you were so obviously kidding, and we're the fools for believing it, and you accomplish your 'mission'.

One of my all time favorite college football games was when Florida State played Notre Dame back about 1993.

Florida State was all the rage with Charlie Ward at QB and had won quite a few games. So, this game was a biggie. All the talk was about how awesome Charlie Ward and FS were. They interviewed Lou Holtz prior to the game and he said "ND would try to keep up with F State" Heaping nothing but praise upon their team.

ND flat out embarrassed FS when the game was finally played and exposed FS as a joke. Charlie Ward didnt even get drafted in the NFL.

Yea because he wanted to play for the Knicks and FS still won the championship that year
