For them that like the blues ...

very interesting version of the old Motown song done by The Temps I Can't Get Next To You NJohn-you guys are getting better and better bro-what happened to the female vocalist you guys had?

Thanks Jimmy - can't take credit for the arrangement - thats ala Savoy Brown from the early 70's.

The lady will still do a set or 2 with us, but her wheelhouse was more ballad driven and we want to predominantly stick with rocked up 8/12 bar.

Just checked out the set, NJ. Very hot numbers. I especially liked the smoldering track #2. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks bro - I'll have a good video after our gig on the 4th

Song # 3 is a winner.=D>

Youve got some Allman Brothers sound in there too.

Thanks dude -

lot of good stuff here NJ-I love the way you smash that high hat-is that a Leslie I'm hearing?

Yep - our keyboard lady is not only beautiful - but has a Leslie.

now that's what I call a committed musician-any keyboardist that will actually lug a Leslie organ to a practice or a gig is serious and should be kept at all costs-I would SO be your singer bro if I was in the Windy city

LOL

Yes, Leslies are heavy and tough to carry.

Great work John.

You guys are sounding tighter each time I hear you.

Same guitarist as before?

He's playing very well.

Sounds like a drummer did the mixing on these songs.

True?

:):)

Thanks Doug:cheers:

There is no mixing - grabbed off a single mic in the corner of the session room. I just double the track in Sound Forge so it comes up in 2 channels and leaves me the lousy recording alibi :winking0001:

Some bytes from our basement practice this past weekend - www.zr02.com/bcbone.mp3

Got some additional tightening up to do as we're one of the bands opening for Heart over the 4th weekend. It's starting to come together. Give a listen and fire off some critique if you've got a few minutes.

Annie Wilson is perhaps still the best voice in rock-female side. Nancy sings a great version of Elton John's Mona Lisa And Mad Hatters too-very cool NJohn-to be opening for such a group of legends...damn, I'm jealous

We opened for them 2 years ago as well when they played our event Jimmy. I'd wanted to get them for a long time as they're perfect for our demographic and put on a great show, but they were always a little beyond our price point. We're elated to have them back the 2nd time in 3 years.

The other thing they do is an amazing job on are Zeppelin covers

I made a total fool of myself 2 years ago when toward the end of their show I was going over some merchandise issues with their road manager (a very cool chick) and I had kinda eluded to the fact that I was a long time fan and had probably seen them before. They come out for their first encore and bust into Misty Mountain Hop and Nancy is just shredding it note for note on her Strat and I looked at the manager and said "wow - how long they been doing Zeppelin covers"? She said "oh - about 25 years give or take"

My cover was blown and she knew I was the stooge I am.

Really looking forward to seeing them perform again. They and their organization are top flight in every respect.

I saw them in 1980 at The Meadowlands opening for The Eagles and they did Zep's Rock n' Roll

I'm going way back here, NJ. The first Heart album came out when I was a sophomore in college. A few years later, I remember hearing a bootleg record of a Heart concert on the campus radio where they covered Zeppelin's Rock & Roll, Battle of Evermore, Misty Mountain Hop, The Rover, and several others I forget. Over the years, I have had occasion to tell people that the only band--club date, bar, arena act, etc.--I ever heard do Zeppelin right was Heart. Nancy Wilson's version on that bootleg is actually better than Plant's.

Hey Borgo, who was that 80's hair metal band that did the MTV Unplugged version of Babe I'm Gonna Leave You? That was flawless...

I don't remember that one, SFJ. I do recall the album Encomium from that era, which I didn't think was any good.

Thanks, dude. Now I know the reason why I didn't know the version: It was done by Great White, which I try to avoid as much as I can. For some reason, those guys--especially the singer--have bugged me since their--IMO--awful version of the Ian Hunter classic, Once Bitten Twice Shy. I will say that you were right about this version of Babe I'm Gonna..., which is pretty good. BTW, doesn't the guitar player in Great White look like Ian Hunter?
