Do you think the Pats have a realistic shot at 19-0?

I was debating with the idiots over at Patsfans.com. I was calling them all spoiled bitches saying they would be disappointed with anything less than 19-0. They really make me sick those "fans".

So I say no, there is no realistic chance NE goes 19-0. Harder schedule, this defense isn't as good, they are less experiences, the O line is one year older and it already has been somewhat suspect, and Brady hasn't played in a year. They just aren't as good a team.

There is no way the Pats are going 19-0. It has never been done before in the history of the the league. That is a pretty easy argument to win as no sane person would say the Pats will run the table.

if a BETTER pats team with an EASIER schedule couldn't do it, then they can't this year

Actually the thread over at the Pats site, "Is do you want them to go 19-0", not "do you think they will go 19-0". The prevailing opinion by the majority is they don't care as long as we win the SB.

One Jets fan seem to be attempting to take the thread off topic.

As for your question here, "is it realistic" I tend to think unlikely. I predict the Patriots win the division and have between 12-14 wins. However, of all the teams in the NFL, if any team goes 19-0 next year the Patriots would be the most plausable.

the division is loaded this year. They will lose 3 games within the division alone

Against a rookie QB or Clemens? Or to the Phins and Chad? Or the Jills? Unless the Patriots have been realigned in the same division with Pittsburgh, San Diego and Indy, they are not losing 3 games in the division.

Can they? Yes. Will they? No.

To get to 18-0 they had some luck. To expect the same twice in three seasons? No way.

All of the cornerstones? Bart Scott, Jim Leonhard, Rex Ryan, Mike Pettine.

Don't be surprised if the Ravens defense takes a big step back this year.

Baltimore's Defense Cornerstones: Haloti Ngata, Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs, Ed Reed

It is nearly impossible to go undefeated the entire way.

But I think the Pats are going to be a very difficult team this year.

Their offense is stacked.

Their defense isnt as good as in the past, but Belichick has always been great in getting mediocre talent to perform well above their abilities.

Barring major injuries, I expect them to get 13-14 wins. Playoffs are a crap shoot so its tough to predict.

Bart Scott's been better and more important to that defense than Lewis for about 3 years due to his versatility. Losing him is going to hurt... bad. Losing Leonhard is going to force Reed to stay home more and not be a free to freelance. He'll be just as good but won't be in position to make as many big plays.

Losing both their DC and LB coach ain't gonna help 'em get better, that's for damn sure.

I still think they will be a better-than-good defense. They are still stacked. Top-5.

Don't forget the Ravens have pretty much been the Jets since winning the SB. They were 4-12 themselves two years ago.

Yeah, but this isn't the Kyle Boller/Brian Billick version. Flacco, D & Harbaugh - I see this team good for years to come.

The 8-8 Chargers? They wont win a Super Bowl with Norv running the show.

They've reached the AFC Championship (God knows what would have happened in this game had Rivers, Gates and LT been healthy) and Divisional Championship (Without Merriman) with Norv.

First off they should have been 9-7 (Ed Hochuli says hello) but that's irrelevant. Merriman's injury had a huge impact on that team. If you rewatch their games you'll realise their one major issue that haunted them all season was an absolutely awful pass rush. Shawn Merriman, as much as I dislike the guy, will IMMEDIATELY fix that because he makes everyone around him better as well as being a sack machine himself.

The offense is very talented and IMO Rivers is developing into an elite QB. Gates and Jackson are good targets (Chambers is decent, nothing more) and LT-Sproles is a great 1-2 combo.

Also, look at the AFC West and how it's shaped up. The Raiders, Chiefs and now Cutler-less Broncos. They're a lock to win the division IMO and once they get to the playoffs they've proven that they're a tough team to beat.

San Diego FTW!

That is all well and good but the Chargers cant get it done in the playoffs.

Disagree, they always run into better teams, they never really blow it (except for Marty's last year, MAYBE). This year, they should be on the same level as the Steelers & Patriots now that they are healthy. That being said, would it surprise me if the Chargers represented the AFC in the Super Bowl? No.

Dude, they've loked pretty good the last two seasons.

They gave the Pats great offense in 2007 all sorts of problems, picking off Brady 3 times.

Gates was hurt, Rivers was playing on one leg and LT was on the sidelines all game. They may not have "got it done" but they sure as hell came close and God knows what would have happened has they been healthy going into that game.

Ugh, don't even go there. I've never seen a team outplay a team to such an extent only to ****ing **** the bed. I'll never forget that idiot who picked the ball off on 4th down (It's 4th down BREAK UP THE PASS! DICK!) and then proceeded to fumble, lose the ball and give the Pats a 1st down.

That was utterly ridiculous.

Don't even talk to me about injuries. That is lame.
