SouthernJet
Easy Virtue is a English Indie that is a adaptation of a lesser known work of famed satirist Noel Coward. It is VERY English in its pace, tone and humor. Its cast of Jessica Biel, Ben Barnes, Kristin Scott Thomas, Colin Firth, meshes pretty well, while Biel's acting is so-so, Thomas and Firth save the acting creds. Easy Virtue is a English Indie that is a adaptation of a lesser known work of famed satirist Noel Coward. It is VERY English in its pace, tone and humor. It is set in the eary 1930's on the estate of a very wealthy old English money family. Enter the prodigal son with a floosey American race car driving wife. Well teh upper crust nature of the Mother will not allow this and what ensues is bot drama and dry English humor. The movie is a ongoing battle between wife, mom and a hubby that will eventually have to decide between Mommy or Wife. Colin Firth plays the Dad of the family and is probably the only real plot/character that kept this movie alive for me. He wandered France after WWI and his lack of desire for the wife and wealth is what propels the Mothers mean streak. This movie twists to where you totally dont expect it to go. So for Firth and the plot twists I give this a 'its OK if you are into the genre of Noel Coward antirich comedies of the 30s'. 2 1/2 's
