NEW YORK JETS @ DETROIT LIONS

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 7th, 2010 1:00 PM ET

FORD FIELD - DETROIT, MICHIGAN

Attention All

I made contact with the Detroit Lions Group Ticket Sales representative and have learned the following:

All Lions group ticket packages go on sale June 1st, 2010. The Lions called the Jets a "Top Tier Team" and indicated to me that they expect the ticket sales for that game to move rather quickly.

While it sounds like I'm jumping the gun, I'd prefer and intend to get these seats ordered as close June 1st, as possible, so that we can all sit together in a good section.

Tickets will be Lower Level Corner Seats @ $72 a piece and as I'm sure you can understand, money is due to me up front.

Please indicate in this thread if you are IN and PM me for a mailing address. To those who have never dealt with me before in this manner, I can provide multiple references from the 2006 Cleveland Ticket Purchase and Tailgate to prove that I'm not some random Bernie Madoff guy looking to make a quick buck and skip town. :lol:

As I did in Cleveland, I will organize and prepare the Detroit Tailgate Festivities and collect money from everyone at the game to merely recoup the costs. At this time, I have at least 12 fellow Detroiters already signed up for tickets and tailgating.

I can also provide references on hotels, hotel locations, and other activities while in town. PM me for details Looking forward to a great time.

The Jets come to Detroit in 2010.

There will be an official JN Tailgate on site (I'll have my off-duty gun, you'll all be fine), followed by group seating. I fully expect to have at least 30 of you in town for the game....however not at my house.

Please clear your schedules for 2010 accordingly.

I will be there, make sure to count me in if you get any kind of group seating. I am actually really interested in seeing just how bad a sh#thole detroit is. Any way I can get a ridealong in a squad car for the day when I come out there???:D

I may consdider it depends on how many are in -- also is this going to be a group ticket deal or are we on our own - I am def in for Miami as always but bouncing Denver or Detroit -- also have to work out my work sked but that should not be a problem.

As for the casinos, that is a great recommendation. The Greektown or MGM Grand Casinos are good bets for your stay if you want to stay downtown.

DO NOT STAY AT THE MOTOR CITY CASINO

I went to a game at Ford Field the year after it opened. I ended up staying in Windsor because I had heard stories of friends who have had trouble in Detroit. While there was a very busy nightlife on the other side of the border, I think anyone over 20 would feel out of place there. What are the impressions of a Michigander?

If I was only coming to town for a game, I wouldn't bother with Windsor. It's only going to cost more $$ and the border is a pain in the arse. The Greektown casino hotel was completed like 6months ago, so it's all new. It's on a block of cool greek restaurants, from diners to fancy places. The casino is a bit smaller, the slots are tight, and it's a bit smoky(like all casinos)...but it's still fun. ..and walking distance to Ford field, about 8 blocks.

If you're looking for nightlife/women..can't help you. I'm a boring married guy. But Cheli's is a neat place to hang out like a block from the field. Owned by Chris Chelios Former Blackhawk/Red Wing. http://www.chelischilibar.com/

I'm quite the boring married guy myself - that's why I wasn't crazy about all of the kids who spend Saturday nights in Windsor because of the lower drinking age. The clerk at the hotel where we stayed did not believe my buddy and me that we were in town for the Lions-Eagles game. Apparently, the city is notorious for its women of the night, and she thought we were pursuing a different game.

Windsor is too much of a pain in the ass to get to for it to be any fun these days. The border crossing is a damned mess since they tightened everything up and it can sometimes take 90 min. The new casino hotels, in addition to a couple other hotels down there, are nice and there's "Enough" nightlife near the places to stay to make it a fun weekend.

Downtown is relatively safe, truth be told.

Pat put me in for two seats. My vote would be to just splurge and get the $78 seats for the group. Since that is like $50 - $70 cheaper than most of us are used to paying for the Jets homes games. But whatever the group says is cool with me.

Hey Al - it'll be great to see you and Judy! Like Gunner says - golf is iffy. It's not at all out of the question to have 50 - 60 degree days in Nov - but you can also have snow. We will look at some 10 day projections before you come up.
