Irish Jet
3-4 or 4-3? Patrick Willis is probably the best right now. Urlacher shouldn't even be on the list.

124
He was my second pick, followed by Beason. Yeah, I mean really you have to look at it as 43 MLB vs 34 MLB or technically ILB. In the 43, its Ryans. In the 34, its Willis.
Greenseed3
there's video on nfl.com right now... According to their fellas: 5-t Bart Scott 5-t Brian Urlacher 4- Jon Beason 3-DeMeco Ryans 2-Ray Lewis 1-Patrick Willis
#27TheDominator
This is funny. I remember before the draft that year. I asked if you would trade Vilma for a first round pick and draft Willis. The answer from most was a resounding "NO!" and IIRC I was also berated for falling in love with a workout warrior because of Willis' sick 40 time. The 40 is meaningless!! People here had convinced themselves that Vilma was the 2nd-best MLB/ILB in the league (after Lewis) in 2006. And maybe better because Lewis was in such a huge decline that he would probably be useless by the close of 2007.
DMaynard
Definitely Willis, but I think David Harris will be in this discussion after this year.
PS17
Definitely Willis, but I think David Harris will be in this discussion after this year. I remember hearing that Ray Lewis said Harris one day has the potential to be the best defensive player in the NFL. Pretty lofty.
124
I remember hearing that Ray Lewis said Harris one day has the potential to be the best defensive player in the NFL. Pretty lofty. Bart Scott in this weeks Sporting News basically echoed the same thing.
PS17
Bart Scott in this weeks Sporting News basically echoed the same thing. So this year is put up or shut up time for David. Potential means nothing if you don't reach it.
Vicious89x
So this year is put up or shut up time for David. Potential means nothing if you don't reach it. I think you'll see a nice year from Harris. The big if as always is the health factor. You can have all the talent in the world but if you're always injured, you can't be considered one of the best. JagsFanJif
demeco ryans is seriously underrated and my choice Who underrates him? He is being talked about as a top 5 LB'er in the league and he has the 2nd most votes in this thread. I think most people know Ryans is a beast. Beason is the most underrated of all the players on this list...IMO.

According to their fellas: 5-t Bart Scott 5-t Brian Urlacher 4- Jon Beason 3-DeMeco Ryans 2-Ray Lewis 1-Patrick Willis I saw that too gs3 and Jamie Dukes almost made me barf up my imported Italian pasta, meatball, and antipasta when he said Vilma. Sure Vilma might MAKE a lot of tackles but only after finally dragging the ball carrier down 4 yards after initial contact

dolphann4life
He's better than any ILB you have. Oh wait. You guys have Channing Crowder. By no means do we have a pro bowl caliber MLB but don't talk up Ed Hartwell Pt.II and his 82 tackles and 1.5 sacks...harldy impressive. Maybe if the kid Harris on your squad stays healthy u have something brewing. I'm sick of hearing about Bart Scott.

abyzmul
He's better than any ILB you have. Oh wait. You guys have Channing Crowder. It has to be Willis right now. I can't believe Rod Woodson had Bart Scott rated so high. He seems to think that the Pittsburgh defense is comprised of only pass rushers. I'd have Farrior and Dansby rated higher than Scott and Urlacher right now. This time last year I thought Harris was going to be a beast, but stupid Calvin Pace had to step on Harris' balls and injured his groin against Kansas City, and he wasn't any great shakes before the injury.
