Cheri is a British/French/German Independent film starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Kathy Bates, that alone is worth ticket price.

The film takes place in turn of the century (early 1900s) France. It is about a aging cortisan (high priced prostitute or manipulator of rich men) Pfieffer who is realizing her days to retirement are near. Her last wealthy 'client' has left her and she is wealthy and independent not looking for any more clients. Enter a equally wealthy Bates , herself a ex cortisan and friend/rival . Bates 18 year old son is meandering and Bates is asking for intervention by Peiffer as he has alway sbeen fond of her.

What ensues is 1900 Cougar action. They fall in love and then Bates is not overly happy with the situatio nand trys to come up with a out plan to get him away from Peiffer.

The film then plays on the effects of all this romantic intrigue.

Its light, very French in its tone and film sense. Very stylish.
