So During My Hockey Game Tonight, The Ref Attacked My Teammate

Recommended Posts

I don't think I've ever seen something like that at any level of hockey. One of my teammates was on the bench and was yelling at the ref who proceeded to throw him out of the game. My teammate was taking his sweet time taking a swig from the water bottle and when the ref turned his back, he squirted him with the water.

Next thing you know, the ref jumps the board onto our bench and punches my teammate. Ended up chipping his tooth. We had to break them up after a few min.

Never seen anything like it.

It does sound like your friend had it coming. I'm just saying...

:-P

Regardless, that guy shouldn't be ref'ing anytime in the near future.

I would hope not. As a ref you've got to control yourself before you can control the game.

When I played High School basketball, we were on the road against one of the inner city teams. This team was rough and it was the 3rd time we played them and the only team we played twice and didnt beat. So this game was HUGE for us and we wanted it bad.

In the 4th qrter, I got hot, really hot and led a 12 point comeback to tie the game up with like a minute left. They had the ball and we forced a missed shot, got the rebound and started a fast break. Our PG, was driving to the lane for a wide open lay up. He made it, and this phantom whistle was blown on our Center for a moving pick. The guy was underneath the basket on the other side of the lane blocking out for a potential rebound. He was no where near the paly. It was such b.s. Our coaches went ape ****. Anyway, they got free throws with 5 sec's left and he made both. We were down 2. Then we drew up a play for me to get the ball at half court take 2 dribbles and try to nail a 3 for the game. Play was executed perfectly and had a great look. Only problem was, I got completely hacked on the shot right in front of the ref that called the bogus moving pick.

I was furious. I chased the ball down after screaming at the ref and then went back to him, handed him the ball, and said "thanks for giving them the game". He blew his wistle, kicked me out of the game (which was over) and then proceed to attack me. All hell broke loose. Parents were on the court, the ref was being held back from fighting me, my dad was tossnig people around . My coaches grabbed me and forced me to run to the locker room. So I do, only to be followed by a group of thugs. I had to lock myself in the locker room and we had a police escort to the bus.

Turns out the ref was an Uncle of one of the kids playing in the game and the thugs that were chasing me were his sons.

It was ****ing insane.

WOW That's a night you'll never forget.

It was nuts. Because I was technically thrown out of the game, even though it was over, the FSHAA or whatever sports thingy is for FL high school, was going to suspend me. Then we started doing research and parents started a petition and the state was in our favor, especially after learning that ref was a relative of someone playing in the game. It was unreal.

Worst part was, I was on fire. I had 14 pts in the 4th, 28 for the game, we were on our way to victory and the last second play we drew up was money. I made a game winning shot with the same play like 2 weeks before that game.

Then on Senior night, all my coach had to say after 3 years of blood and sweat for that guy was, "I'll never forget Seminole". Dickhead.
