lancemehl
Explain please, jet fans. Was Bubba Franks braking the bank? Why release a wiley veteren who could show Keller a trick or two blocking and receiving for a Bum? If you got a jet question, this is the place to come! 124
Because he is injury proned and did next to nothing for us last year. Is there really going to be that big of a drop off between him and Jack Simmons/Kareem Brown/J'Nathan Bullock? Nope.

124
Maybe Nugent could block. He'd do better than Franks at this point in Bubba's career.

Is there really going to be that big of a drop off between him and Jack Simmons/Kareem Brown/J'Nathan Bullock? Nope. My thoughts exactly. The only reason why we signed Bubba Franks was because Favre was our QB last year, thats about it. Franks also averaged 32 catches, 287 yards, with 4 TD's per year since he's been in the league. Wasn't the case last year, he only had 6 catches, 47 yards with 0 TD's. This offense won't miss Franks, it just won't.
JiFtheOracle
Not much to say here mehl, Bubba just not a good player anymore. I gotta feeling we are still going to sign an adequate blocking TE.

Because Franks was hurt, and probably couldn't pass a physical before training camp.

Seriously, the guy was old and hurt. If we needed a pure blocked I'm sure we can find someone younger and stronger.

BroadwayJ667
because Bubba just wasn't recovering from last year's injuries. They were expecting him to be farther along by now, but he was way behind, so they let him go. Expect a few TE's to be released though from some teams, NE currently has six, not all of them will make it.

New York Mick
How can the Jets ever replace Franks six catches and 50 yards?!?! It can't be done!!! With the crap we have for WRs that might be the second best on the team.

Irish Jet
True, I forgot about him, it would be third. No love for James Dearth. Guy's breaking out in a big way this year. I can sense it. Dearth in '09!
