Was just about to post this...

The Beasties are my all time favorite band and I was fully going to see them a couple of times on this tour. 2nd time I have had tickets to multiple shows and someone got injured in the band and had to cancel the tour.

MCA is one of my favorite all time musicians. One of the best bass players in the world and I love his voice and flow. Glad to hear its treatable.

Seriously though, F Cancer. What a F'ed up disease. My parents are both survivors, but this disease has taken so many family members its ridiculous. It runs rampant in my family and I fully expect to have it one day.

No, I wont...

I have no serious physical defect, my body is fundamentally sound.

NO! you won`t get it!

Repeat after me....

"I have no serious pyhsical defect, my body is fundamentally sound"

Remind yourself of that as many times as you remember every day and all will be well :-)

Hope he gets well soon, I bough Ill Communication years ago, and have never listened to it

I suggest you go home an pop that bitch in your CD player and sit back and enjoy being brought from one spectrum of music to another over and over again for 20 tracks!

Saw them live last year at Langerado. WOW.

Was suprised they all played instruments and how well they kept the crowd in it. Not easy for hip hop acts to do. Hip Hop as we know it today, is not meant to be played live. Few can pull it off, but no one better then the Beasties. Roots would be the close second.

Oh yeah, I have seen them many times. Thats the thing that people dont realize about the Beasties, they are extremely gifted musicians, not just rappers. They put on one of the best shows I have ever seen. I cant think of a band that you can attend a concert and see, hip-hop, punk, hardcore, alternative and jazzy funky instrumentals all in one show and have the crowd just losing it!!!

Oh bugger, it wasn`t Ill Communication, it was Licensed To Ill, is that any good?

Maybe I`ll listen to God Bless The Go-Go`s instead, pure class :-)

Licensed to Ill was their first rap album, some classic songs, but far from their best work. This was way before they started to incorporate instruments back into their music.

And when you tell people that haven't heard them in a while they don't even believe you. It is pretty crazy how far they've come from what they were. And they didn't really piss any of their fans off in the process either. Its kind of like they grew up with their fans.

Agreed. They are about as innovative of a band that there ever has been.

I mean, every album they produced prior to the 5 Boroughs, is ground breaking and had a sound unlike anything music had to offer.

Liscensed to Ill - 3 Jewish rappers break the into the scene rapping over classic hard rock samples

Paul's Boutique - IMO the one of the greatest Hip-Hops albums off all time, its still a record thats before its time. Lyrically, beats, samples, never seen or done before.

Check Your Head - this album is when I think the Beastie came into their own and its my favorite album of all time. The first time you ever heard a band just hit every spectrum of music and hit it really well.

Ill Communication - was like an extension, has some classic tracks, but because it was so similar to CYH, I dont like it as much though their are amazing tracks.

Hello Nasty - hard to describe, futuristic, somewhat techno beats with rap, crazy alternative, Brazilian folk music, dub. All sorts of crazy ****.

5 Boroughs - just old school NY hip-hop. Probably my least favorite of their albums.

But then they have a hardcore album caled Aglio-e-Olio which is awesome and 2 all instrumental albums, The In Sound from Way Out and The Mix Up which are groovy as well.

I liked 5 Boroughs but will admit that I was never a huge follower of theres. I will also say i love old school NY hip hop so.

I haven't gotten a good chance to listen to their instrumental stuff, definitely will though. I've been hearin' about it for some time now.
