124
Okay, TNJet, just so you know I'm not off the Kellen bandwagon at all! I still like him a lot and think he will do well in Minnesota or San Francisco in 2010. BUT, this organization made sure that they got Sanchez under contract before Minicamp's even ended. There are only two reasons why Kellen would be under center Week 1: 1. Injury 2. Sanchez plays so poorly that they cannot justify putting him into the lineup. And if #2 is the case, that is nothing but a terrible sign. As much as I like Kellen and have serious doubts with Sanchez, I do not think he will perform that badly in Camp + Preseason games. I am going to say that Sanchez is behind center Week 1.

He is going to have to play HORRIBLY for him, if healthy, to take a back seat to Kellen for Week 1. IF he does, that is a HORRIBLE sign. Even Adam Schefter (the most respected man on television when it comes to the NFL) said so on Beningo & Roberts (I think it was Joe & Evan's show). Even Adam Schefter (the most respected man on television when it comes to the NFL) said so on Beningo & Roberts (I think it was Joe & Evan's show). Not completely knowing a new pro style scheme and playing against an aggressive Rex Ryan D stocked full of pro bowlers can make a rookie play horribly from time to time. Not,saying i wish this on him because i dont...but look at Quinn in Cleveland,he hasnt seen the field and he was considered by many as the best qb coming out in 2005. If you struggle, the coaches struggle to throw you to the dogs your first season. Yes i know about Ryan watching Flacco last season but who did they have? Boller? Smith? They are much worse than even Clemens.
124
Brady Quinn was drafted in 2007. He is only going into his 3rd season. He didn't see the field as a rookie thanks to the emergence of Derek Anderson. If it weren't for Anderson breaking out, Quinn would've been in the lineup by Week 6. Yes, Kyle Boller was a bust. But guess what? He started from Week 1 as a rookie. I'm sorry, but when Adam Shefter says that the only reason Kellen starts is if Mark does HORRIBLE during TC/Preseason Games, I'm taking his word for it. He's the only one in the media you can trust 100% of the way.

Romeo Crennell made the move to start Charlie Frye. Frye was HORRIBLE Week 1, they dealt him to Seattle and to give Quinn time until the Bye Week, they started Anderson (the fans were pissed). Anderson surprised and stayed on the field. Quinn had 2 QB's ahead of him. Already, he has only 1. For now. I do not think Crennell and Ryan have the same mindset (and I sure as hell hope they don't). 5 years, $50 million, $28 guarenteed? Play the kid. I say let the best qb play if its Sanchez fine but let him prove it by playing better against the defense in camp. If its Clemens then so be it. Rex is really gonna look like a homer in many peoples eyes if he sets the best qb regardless of how high of a pick he was.
Bleed4TheGreen
The only way Mark Sanchez is not the starting QB come week 1, is if Mark Sanchez plays like complete dog **** during traning came and preseason, because thats what Kellen Clemens is...Pretty much dog **** This is the start of the Rex Ryan era and Mark Sanchez is our potential Franchise QB...It's Sanchez-Just about 100% sure. I get what you're saying TN, and I like Clemens just as much as you do BUT: Once again: The only way Kellen Clemens is behind center Week 1 is if Mark Sanchez is absolutely putrid in Training Camp / Preseason. It has been well documented. If you are voting Clemens, you believe that this will happen.

Kellen Clemens has a QB raiting of only 52.0 as a starting NFL QB...Thats a Ryan Leaf type of QB raiting right there. He only had 5 TD's with 11 INT's as a starter... He's a nothing. SenorGato
I'm rooting for Clemens. Sorry if I don't buy that the kid with 16 college starts under his belt is going to become an instant starter in the NFL. I think very highly of Sanchez, and he's USC most talented QB since Palmer, but I don't want him starting until he's 100% ready to start. Clemens here in '09!!! I realize I'm being crazy because most of the scouts on here think Clemens is a super-mega bust after not taking the '07 team to the playoffs. 124...Schefter? Really? Adam Schefter? Sanchez should have to blow everyone away to start as a rookie. Believe it or not, you're allowed to have a future even if it doesn't come instantaneously. Larz
I THINK sanchez will start week 1 I WANT clemens to start week 1 I want clemens to start for 2 reasons; 1) give mcdreamy some time to learn and observe 2) it's much better to go from clemens to sanchez than from sanchez to clemens mid-season one way is "make way for the future" the other way is "another Jets 1st round bust"

Hey...Just remember...In 2007, he had Coles and Cotchery as his 1-2 punch at the WR position and still put up Ryan Leaf types of numbers... Cotchery didn't have any type of talent passing him the ball in 2007, Kellen is garbage. There was a reason why Mangini wanted Ratliff on draft day and wanted nothing to do with Kellen...He's a Ryan Leaf type of freaking talent. Cotchery is a good WR...Plain and simple. Kellen isn't. And if you couldn't tell my sarcasm with this situation, just wow. But honestly...Kellen Clemens never had a fiar chance in 2007 because of our O-Line, but still...He showed me pretty much nothing other than the game against the Ravens where their Defense was playing REAL soft. Reasons why Mangini wouldn't want Clemens: 1. Jets wouldn't give him up because Ratliff is very obviously a career backup, and the Browns have Quinn, their future starter. 2. Clemens has one more year on his contract, so it doesn't even make sense to have him if he's a one year backup to Quinn. 3. The Jets wouldn't give up Clemens because that leaves us with two QBs with 0 non-preseason passes thrown in the NFL. One being Brett frickin Ratliff, the David Clowney of QB's. Also, in '07 Clemens was working with an injured Cotchery (fingers) and an injured Coles who missed 4 games. The anti-Clemens stuff, like the anti-Mangini stuff, is usually based on half remembered, mostly made up memories, mixed with a little bit of bad, half assed conjecture based "analysis." Kellen Clemens. FTW.

GodWearsAGrayHoodie
Sanchez starts unless Sanchez is absolutely horrible in pre-season (e.g. 8 ints per TD). Woody has too much tied up in his media star/first and second round picks to go with the Clemens if it is close or if Clemens give the team the best chance to win, but is not miles ahead of Sanchez.
