Jets Open Up Google Adwords Account

It has come to this, the Jets are now trying to sell season tickets using google adwords. After a one billion dollar new stadium project the Jets have taken out ads all over the internet. Look at the top of this page, you may see the ad: Get Jets Tickets Now.

Woody and his greed, they have hit rock bottom. Reminds me of Mayo in An Officer and a Gentleman.

Don't you do it! Don't! You... I got nowhere else to go! I got nowhere else to g... I got nothin' else.

Plenty of seats available, the season ticket waiting list is a distant memory. Woody while cry about bad timing and steel costs but it didn't have to be this way. Could blackouts be a reality in 2009?

The Jets released their PSL prices after the Giants. The Jets said there would be no PSL in the upper deck. It was a rare moment of marketing excellence from the Jets. The problem is to make up the difference, the Jets decided to try and charge 20k or more for the best seats.

And the high rollers said thanks but no thanks.

The coaches club auction? They said it was a chance for fans to get the best seats and they would let the market set the price. Yet they didn't sell all the seats initally because the market wasn't what they expected.

Hypocritical.

As a publisher thought I have to thank the Jets. JetNation.com made $4.16 today through google. We are not sure where we are going to spend that money but we can safely rule out season tickets. We have been priced out.

i recently signed up for waitling list and haven't been called. What's the deal?

You will get a call soon. I know people that signed up for the waiting list 2 months ago and got called within a month.

Basically, there is no longer a waiting list.

awesome.. But i'm having second thoughts.. BEcause the stadium is shard, I'm assuming you don't have right of first refusal for those seats to other events there?

I'm still trying to figure out how you can basically "sell" the same seats twice, at a rate that would be more than the cost of a "full" seat everywhere else. Weird.

The Jets are finding out people are just not going to ante up -not with this economy and living conditions- and rightfully so for the prices they are asking and then get hit for ticket prices after the PSL's

That's my hold up. If had tp plunk down 20k PSL a seat but knew that seat was mine for any event i wanted, I'd be much more inclined to do it..

its rare that a stadium or arena offers this kind of plan. Many do give you an option to buy tickets presale, but no guarantee you get your specific seats.

Biggest problem is people misunderstand what a PSL is. You arent buying the seat, you are buying the right to purchase tickets for that seat for a specific event.. not every event the stadium/arena has. PSL is just a cute name.

Part of this is greed but it's mostly the economy. The only team I've heard have an uptick in ticket sales this offseason is the Vikings and that's only because of Favre's ****teasing of the organization.

Here in Jacksonville, the Jaguars are seriously looking at the possibility of every single game, including preseason, being blacked out.

I think some of you are making that out like it is a bigger deal in other stadiums than it really is.

More than anything else it give you the right to transfer your season tickets to another person.

At other stadiums for some events the owners of PSL get right of first refusal for some events. Ussully phrased as such, "owners of PSLs will get rights of first refusal for all events not deemed as exempt."

Now here is the issue what is exempt?

Lets say Dallas hosts the superbowl. Are the cowboys PSL/STH going to see the came or are the tickets going to be distrbuted based on the NFLs formula for tickets? That event will be exempt.

Lets say Baltimore hosts the olympics. Are PSL owners going to the opening cermonies or are tickets for that going to be distrubted based by the IOC? That event is going to be exempt.

If a presidental candiate rents a football stadium for his nomination speech. (Denver doesn't have PSLs anyway) but do you think the PSL is getting you in over a delegate if they had them.

With something like a concert is is up to the artist or promoters to decided if they want the event exempt or not. Often the artist will like the idea of giving PSLs first right of refusal, because they want to sell the tickets and the PSL list is a good list of potential buyers. I woud guess even now when there is an event at Giants stadiums Jet STHs get an email urging them to buy tickets to the events and maybe even occationally Giants and Jets STHs get a chance to buy tickets a day or two before they go general.

I thought about it again this morning. And I thought, "The Jets are using google adsense to sell season tickets." The only reaction I had was a slight chuckle.

Bad economy or not, how could you screw this up so bad? Unreal.

Go Jets!!!

Thankfully I have tickets for this season because at the rate this is going they're going to be blacked out.

i doubt it. when i searched the tickets yesterday, they had 2 tix available only in the uppers, and not great seat locations.

whatever they dont sell for season tickets they will easily sell for single games.

Sucks big time. At least the beers are cold and cheap where I catch all the games: http://www.artfuldodgerphilly.com/ The bar was actually a barracks for the continental marines fighting the brits - that's philly for ya.

Anyone in Philly on game day drop by; they always put the Jets on one TV for me even if the iggles are playing.

I've been to Fox and Hound at Rittenhouse a few times for a game. Usually a pretty eclectic crowd there. Always had fun.

Too corporate for my taste. It's also a steelers bar. Plus I live like 4 blocks from artful dodger and the owner went to the culinary institute in Poughkeepsie so the food is damn good. also i prefer the colonial ambiance of the surrounding buildings to the skyscrapers surrounding fox and hound.

Yeah, the place does have a corporate feel. I didn't notice a Steelers vibe though, as I said, the (very) few times I've been there, it was pretty eclectic. If I was a local I'd probably check out some other places, but I only get down there for a weekend about every other month, so since my friend lives on Rittenhouse, it's good enough. Waitresses are usually pretty cute. The food is about what you'd expect. Forgettable.

Any word if the Giants are having this problem?

Nope.

They are sold out for 2009 and only have 4,000 seats left for 2010 and beyond in the new stadium (all higher priced PSL seats).

Why? Because they are winners.

I noticed this during the day yesterday when they started popping up on the site, I actually did a double take and moused over to see that it took you to the actual jets site and not some 3rd party broker. Unbelievable. Also, what a sh$tty graphic. Hey Woody, call me and let's discuss!

Blacked out in NYC? I think not.

I don't think they will be blacked out in 2009. But in the new stadium in 2010, who is buying the 30,000 PSLs? They should be able to work something out to avoid blackouts but it is on the radar as a possibility.

That shows how much they missed the mark by. Scare off a few fans no problem. Scare away half the stadium and your waiting list, not so good.

I really didn't understand how you're going to sell the mid to high level PSLs. Most middle class folks can't put down 4K a seat just for the right to pay for seats... How many average working families have an extra 16K that's completely disposable?

Unless Woody is a total moron any unsold PSL will be available as a single game ticket purchase instead of left vacant for the game.

And some of those tickets are priced at $400 or more per game...good luck with that
