Astronaut Koichi Wakata didn't change underwear for a month

After circling Earth 2,208 times, hurtling more than 57 million miles in orbit and enduring near misses with speeding space junk, Koichi Wakata could be described as the kind of person who flies by the seat of his pants. Yet the Japanese astronaut proved during his 138 days in space that he is not the kind of person to kick up a stink about things.

As the space shuttle Endeavour prepared to return to Earth yesterday, bringing Wakata home from the International Space Station where he has been since March, he revealed that he had been wearing the same pair of prototype undies for a full month, all in the name of science.

Designed to resist the rigours of long-duration space travel, the anti-static, flame-resistant, odour-eating, bacteria-killing, water-absorbent smalls have been put through their paces as part of a project aimed at ensuring that when it comes to packing for long-duration trips to the Moon and Mars, future space travellers will need only minimal space in their suitcases.

I always wondered watching the Apollo missions on TV as a kid how astronauts peed or took a dump in space. Never really talked about. Am I rigggght. Anyway, God love toilet humor. It's always good for a cheap snarfle.

Didnt that crazy Space Shuttle broad wear diapers driving from Texas to Florida to stalk that guy?

Buzz Aldrin admitted in a documentary that he paused on the ladder to go #1 before jumping off.

"Marking the 40th anniversary of the first manned moon landing this month, the US astronaut reflects back on his moonwalk...his hopes for the future, and the hallowed lunar leak, accomplished on the lander’s ladder, into a special bag in his space suit.

“Everyone has their firsts on the moon, and that one hasn’t been disputed by anybody,” he said in the 2007 documentary ‘In the Shadow of the Moon’".
