Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees @ Yankee Stadium Series Thread

Recommended Posts

Let's look at the numbers:

BA - Yanks .279, Sox .266

Runs - Yanks 607, Sox 560

Hits - Yanks 1045, Sox 974

HR - Yanks 163, Sox 129

2B - Yanks 219, Sox 236

3B - Yanks 17, Sox 18

RBI - Yanks 580, Sox 534

SB - Yanks 71, Sox 85

OBP - Yanks .360, Sox .350

SLG - Yanks .477, Sox .445

By the numbers the Yankees are CLEARLY the better offensive team this year.

Higher batting average, on base percentage, slugging percentage, hits, homeruns, RBI.

The Sox are the faster team as their edge in stolen bases and doubles will attest but the Yankees are clearly the better hitting team across the board.

Thanks for the stats. Just thought of another reason why indeed the Yanks might have a slight edge. They got these stats without fattening up on the Yanks lousy pitching staff.

Let's not go through this again, lol. Yankees have better pitching than the Sox as of today.

...is not as good as Hughes.

NEXT

Bard is pitching better than Hughes.

Still, I'd take Coke, Aceves, Hughes, and (most importantly) Rivera over Okajima, Delcarmen, Bard, and Papelbon.

Maybe, but when was the last time Phil allowed an earned run?

No arguments there.

Tuesday I believe lol. To be fair, Mo let in those inherited runners. And the only earned runs he's let in himself in relief was in a game against the Sox (Wang started, Hughes came in for long relief).

It's actually really close as far as Bard vs. Hughes is concerned. You can go either way.

Ramiro Pena has been recalled from SWB, Claggett was sent down. Gaudin will join the team on Sunday. Not sure who he'll replace on the roster.

Wish I was able to watch this game on TV instead of online gamecast.

Both pitchers are bringing it tonight. This is my favorite type of ballgame.

The Red Sox are better off sitting Ortiz and having VMart DH, Youk at first, Varitek catching and Lowell at third.

Tremendous outing by AJ

Now lets give him a little support

AJ's been great tonight. Maybe the lefties coming up can get to Beckett.

I'd have Hairston running for Matsui right now.

Yes. I wish Girardi had considered that.

Best game AJ's pitched as a Yankee. Too many walks though.

Hopefully Hughes steps up here.

Is Bard coming into pitch? I'd like to see how he does in an important spot.

lets go yanks.

why not hughes in the 9th? I doubt he would blow out. the sox are saving papelbon and using there hard thrower, why didnt we do that?

I would've rather put Hughes in, Mo's shaky when in non-save situations. Oh well, either way it worked out. Posada will get a hit here. I think. Or not. That was a doh swing. The ball both bounced and hit him and he swung. Nice.

The road team always saves their closer in this situation, just in case they get the lead. The home team's closer is never going to have a save situation, so they can bring him in whenever they want. In the ninth I'd rather have Rivera pitch against the 3-4-5 of Boston than Phil Hughes.
