One thing about our LB corps...

Recommended Posts

If we're thinking of covering Welker with a LB, ANY LB, we're in trouble before the game starts.

However, Welker draws double coverage even when inactive for the game, so it may not matter.

NFL LBs cant really cover NFL WRs. At best they can cover the slowest tight ends. There are only a few good coverage linebackers and most are crappy against the run. Urlacher and Lewis were the exception, not the rule. All LBs really have to do is keep the backs, receivers and tight ends in front of them, close quickly, and prevent yards after the catch. Our guys should be fine.

True and maybe it will change this year w/ Rex's blitzing schemes resulting in a lot of man coverage...but I seem to remember a lot of zone looks last year where Welker/whoever would slip between linebackers like they had polio.... The entire middle of the field was basically a haven for short underneath routes b/c our guys were incapable of anticipating/reacting to the short passes... I just hope it doesn't happen again.
