Blackout
they just lost the best coach in the NFL, but they still have the best Quarterback in the league (and maybe in league history) they still got Wayne and Addai as well will the Colts still be the team to beat in the south?? (despite the Titans better record last year)
124
Best coach in the NFL my ass. Anyways, they had Jim Caldwell as the "co-head coach" last season, in all the meetings, doing the same things Tony did, etc. They've known he would be the next Head Coach for the last two years. He's well prepared. As long as #18 is behind center, Indy will continue to dominate the AFC South. Last year the only reason Tennessee won the division was because Peyton missed the entire Preseason and therefore had his Preseason in September. Iceman88
I'm going to have to agree with Tony Dungy being NOWHERE near the top HC in the league at any point in his career. I can probably easily list 10 coaches better who coached while he did. EDIT: I'd just like to add Tony Dungy got the job cause he was a defensive specialist yet the Colts defense has almost always been a joke except when Bob Sanders plays. That means their defense being good has nothing to do with coaching and everything to do with one very special player. The same can be said for the offense where Dungy has had the luxury of Peyton Manning his entire coaching career (one of the greatest QBs of all time) and some phenomenal offensive coaches to keep that offense, which has been the reason the Colts play well, running. Dungy was in a great situation at a great time he in no way deserves to be considered a top coach.
GodWearsAGrayHoodie
Dungy was a solid coach. But I don't consider him a great coach. Colts haven't out coached a team or won on a brilliant game plan. The way NE has or the way the Dolphins did last year. Or the way the Giants won there superbowl. The Colts win because they often just have much better players than the opposing team. The Colts success is more attributable to Bill Polian the GM and his great drafting then Dungy. Polian is the brains of that operation as long as he remains in charge the team should remain solid no matter who the coach is.
Irish Jet
Dungy is overrated to an extent but he's a good coach. His success in Indy was more a product of a truly great QB leading the offense than anything else while His defense was at best mediocre. He did a good job though. He won a SB and maintained a very high level of success. Regardless of how it happened, it's impressive.

Preemptive strike for every Boston Patriot fan on here and their usual weak rationalization. And they should go back to being the Boston Patriots, thanks. The New England Patriots! Worst team name in NFL history ever. That's like re-naming the Jets the Tri-State Area Jets. The fact that the Jets play in NJ and the Patriots don't physically play in Boston is immaterial to my point.

In another thread, he said that while other teams use cameras, they are innocent because they did not get caught. No. That is not how it works. I was speeding this morning. I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you ignored the truth of your own post, because it's a point I've driven home several times. That aside, the Patriots were sanctioned and are confirmed cheaters. That's all you really need to know. And accept. Have you accepted it? Really? No, this is clearly a Jets tongue in Sanchez butt crack board. I get that the Patriots irregardless of debate will never get a fair shake in here. I did not. I have never said the Patriots were innocent of the charges. They were fairly and justly punished. What I have said and continue to say is I do not understand the Jets' Nation selective nature of moral indignation. If you want it to be black and white. It has to be black and white in every aspect. -You cannot say, as Neckdemon said, other teams do it, but are innocent because they have not been caught. No, I am sorry. It does not work that way. They are guilty. -You cannot be selective like Kleckineau. Cameras = bad. PEDs = okay. Both are against the NFL rules. It is tought ot take your arguments seriously when you make arguments in such a duplicitous nature.

neckdemon
just because i wanted to show that you are making up a load of BS that i said people who cheat but aren't caught are innocent....here's the exchange we had about the subject in the rodney harrison thread: here's what you said: Quote: Originally Posted by PFSIKH Step Child's point is a 110% spot on. The Troll
Dungy had far more of an impact in Tampa than he did Indianapolis. In Indy, all he did was stay out of the way. I'm not sure Caldwell is smart enough to do the same, so they might miss Dungy a little, but it won't be because he was a great coach for them, because he wasn't.
