The QB and Head Coach thanked the fans today on national TV.....

Could be some of both.

1. Jets are having trouble selling tickets, Jets are a business and the job of the employees of a business is to make money for the business. Thanking the fans and make them feel they are important to the success of the team should help sell more tickets and PSLs. (No minimizing the fact that winning does that too).

2. There were penalities for the Patriots and used TOs that could be directly attributed to crowd noise. Jet fans haven't always done a great job in that department. Today they did.

3. If you ask someone to do you a favor and then they do it, it is rude not to say thank you afterwards. (the phone call from Rex, before the game)
