::GoJets:

Moore should return for Saints

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on October 2, 2009 10:37 AM ET

One of the amazing aspects of the Saints offense is how replaceable their parts are.

When Marques Colston and Jeremy Shockey were out last year, the team didn't miss a beat. They are on their third left tackle this season, and the pass protection has held up. When Pierre Thomas missed the first two games of the season, Mike Bell stepped right in and played great at running back. (Yes, we can also confirm Reggie Bush is still on the team.)

The system is bigger than any one player -- except Drew Brees -- and that's why no one outside of fantasy owners has even noticed that Lance Moore, last year's team leader in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns (by 5) has only two catches this year because of a hamstring injury.

Moore appears on track to return, though, after practicing in a limited fashion for the second straight day Thursday. He will give Drew Brees another option to throw to as Sean Payton tries to solve the undefeated Jets defense.

Bell and left tackle Jermon Bushrod (knee/ankle) are expected to miss the game, but the Saints offense should be able to fill their spots seamlessly. As usual.
