RB was not a need, IMHO. I don't like this one at all. Team needs a WR, TE, DE long before RB.

Blech.

They will fill those needs... no everything is as simple as it looks... RB is a need because it looks like TJ is forcing his way out of town...

Good pick. Very good. He is insurance if things go bad with Jones situation and long term, he is a great thunder/lightening combo with Leon. I guess we have to hope for the best with Stuckey/Clowney and pick up the blocking TE with the last pick or after the June 1 cuts.

Definitely like the pick, we needed a running back and we got a bruising-downhill runner, something we haven't had for a while.

Now, I definitely would have liked Jarron Gilbert here, but Rex personally worked him out at his proday and was even running his drills on the field. If Rex was ok with nabbing Green, than I'm sure he likes him quite a bit.

Running Back | Junior | Iowa Shonn Greene

Height: 5-101/2 | Weight: 227 | 40-Time: 4.65

Official Bio

Strengths:

Excellent size and bulk...Very physical runner...Powerful with a strong lower body...A load to bring down and breaks a lot of tackles...Patient with good vision and instincts...A terrific inside runner...Has nimble feet...Finishes runs and always falls forward...Gets stronger as the game progresses...Takes care of the ball...Doesn't have a lot of mileage on his tires...Great determination...Team player...Superb production.

Weaknesses:

Does not have good speed, quickness or a burst...Will struggle to get outside and turn the corner...Won't run away from anyone...Not much of a threat as a receiver out of the backfield...Lacks great balance...A little stiff...Should be a better blocker than he is...Too indecisive...Has had some trouble with his weight and conditioning...Intelligence is an issue...Is older than most prospects...Durability?...A one-year wonder.

Notes:

Spent a year getting his grades in order at Milford Academy (NY) prep school before joining the Hawkeyes...Saw limited action in a reserve role in 2005 and 2006...Was academically ineligible in 2007 and spent a year unloading trucks at a furniture store for $8 an hour while attending classes at Kirkwood Community College...Was the nation's second leading rusher in 2008 and ran for at least 100 yards in every game...Won the Doak Walker Award as the nation's best running back and earned numerous All-American honors in 2008...Also named 1st Team All-Big Ten and was the conferences Offensive Player of the Year...Missed time with shoulder and knee injuries early in his career and also has a long history of ankle issues...Will be a 24-year-old rookie...Came out of nowhere as a junior and really improved his draft stock...A classic North / South runner but is a little overrated and not quite the pro prospect his press clippings would lead you to believe...A two-down type in the NFL who is similar in some ways to a Tony Hunt.

We were picking 11 picks later. We gave up two picks to move in front of 11 teams in the 3rd? We got hosed by DETROIT!

We have one pick left this entire draft!

WE NEED: WR, TE, DE, S

??????

One of the picks was a mid-to-late 7th rounder. Stop it. A guy you pick there is no different than a non drafted free agent that you sign after the draft.

We gave up a 4th but obviously this is the guy we want, and with our OLine, this is a good move. This kid will plow through the holes our OLine creates. No *****-footing like TJ.

You know what? Screw insurance for Jones and the inevitable. Trade Jones now. Maybe we can get back a third.

That would be icing on the cake of this weekend, getting a 3rd for TJ. No way in hell that's gonna happen though.

we will trade TJ for a 4th IMO

agree Rich..could be,,i read last week thata NFL GM said Jets could probably only get a 5 for TJ dues to age/contract

I say trade him and draft the guy who beat out Nicks as UNC's #1 WR before he got hurt,,Brandon Tate
