***OFFICIAL 2009 WORLD SERIES GAME THREAD- Philadelphia Phillies v NY Yankees***

Recommended Posts

Was just reading that the Yankees are seriously considering pitching CC in games 1,4,7. AJ in 2,5. Andy in 3,6. That means the entire starting pitching staff would be going on three days rest.

Another option that is being rumored has CC pitching 1,4,7. AJ 2,6. Andy 3. Gaudin 5.

It looks like Philly might pitch Cliff Lee 1,4,7. Pedro 2. Hamels 3. No word on games 5 and 6.

That was a bit scary. Good job making a pitch to get out of it.

Cliff Lee is nasty tonight. The Yanks need to work him and get him out of the game.

The only chance we have tonight is if Charlie pulls Lee for Lidge in the ninth.

What happened to Phil Coke? Why is Marte ahead of him in the bullpen?

I shut it off a few innings back, yankees are just overmatched. Swisher (aka whiffer) is dreadful, damon is long past useful, Teix is in a bad slump, Cano is a bum, etc. etc.

Cannot rely exclusively on a-rod to hit and beat incredibly talented teams like philly.

The offense was overmatched tonight by a great performance by Lee. I think you may have crowned the Phillies a tad early. Let's see them get something out of Pedro or Hamels.

Nice pickoff by Molina. Completely changed the momentum of that inning.

Hopefully the offense decides to wake up here.

86 pitches for AJ thru 5. Somebody from the bullpen needs to step up tonight.

Thank you Matsui.

AJ for the 7th, Mo for a 2 inning save? (hopefully). I think Joba comes in between AJ and Mo if needed.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Mo for 2 tonight.

Great job AJ. Best game he has pitched as a Yankee.

AJ is at 108. The way he was dealing that inning I wonder if he starts the next inning and goes until a runner gets on -- then Mo comes in?

We'll see this inning. Molina is due up.

I'm a little surprised Charlie is leaving Pedro in here. He must have very little trust in his bullpen.

Me too

I don't understand it=D>

You have to appreciate an effort like that. Nobody even wanted the guy pitching for them at the beginning of the year. He loves being the villian.

If Howard actually thought he caught the ball why would he have thrown to second? Terrible call.

Blanton is going to pitch game four for the Phillies. Lee has never pitched on short rest before. He will pitch game five.

Interesting. At this point he doesn't have any other choice really. Can't move Joba back. If he starts Chad they will call for his head.

My only other thought was what if they win tonight and he let AJ go game 6 at full strength and chalk the one up against Lee. But you can't manage that way so I like what Girardi is doing.

AJ is 4-0 with a 3.25 ERA in his career on 3 days rest.

I don't mind Joe throwing Burnett on short rest. He's going to give you a chance to win the ballgame. Lee isn't going to pitch as well as he did in the first game.

But throwing Burnett tomorrow means pitching Andy on short rest in game six. I'm not a big fan of that possibility.

Nice start so far...

Why are the umps warning both benches? Blanton wasn't throwing at ARod. Now C.C. has to be careful.

As the fans chant "C.C. sucks" Ryan Howard wiffs again.
