Jetsfan80
Due to Cleveland's loss. Now, unless the Indians pull off the impossible, take the final 2 of the season, AND the Red Sox sweep, there's no reason to believe the Yankees or Red Sox will miss the postseason. Gay. Jetfanmack
Not really. If the Indians don't sweep, then the series is basically meaningless. If they do sweep, and the Sox and Yanks split the last 2, they're guaranteed a playoff. It's not moot, but it's not as nervewracking as it was going to be. Green Jets & Ham
Cleveland lost in extra innings tonite Currently the Yanks and Bosox have idential records and both hold a one game lead over Clev with two games remaining So the Yankees can actually win the A.L. East on Saturday with a Yankees win and a Cleveland loss How so? Well that would mean the worst the Yankees can do is end in a tie with Boston if the Sox win on Sunday, thus the Yankees would win the A.L. East by virtue of head-to-head And because Boston wins on sunday they would maintain a one game lead over Cleveland, win the WC, and the Yankees would win the A.L. East by virtue of head-to-head And of course if the Yankees also won on sunday they would win the A.L. East outright, leaving Boston and Clevelend to battle for the WC Bottom Line: To make it easy, and this is a fact ... if the Yankees win on Saturday and the Indians lose, the Yankees win the A.L. East There is NO SCENARIO that can offer a different result for the Yankees if they win on Saturday and Cleveland loses
