Jetsfan80
If Painter starts, I'll be rooting for him. F^ck the Jets. They should be in full control of their own destiny at this point, but they've blown too many games they should've won - even with a rookie QB throwing way too many picks. We want a team who couldn't score more than seven points at home against the Falcons to get into the playoffs? For what? So we can win the whole damn thing. 124
I try to stay neutral, a little on the optimistic side. After the heartbreaking losses though, I am negative as hell, like last week I didn't want to hear about Playoff scenarios after we lost to ATL. But then, as the week goes on, I always start thinking positive, only to get my hopes crushed again. Insanity = doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I'm usually like you, but this is the 14-0 Colts we're talking about, not the 7-7 Texans. I cannot believe we're going to win this game unless we play a perfect game, something the Jets have not done since their self proclaimed Super Bowl that happened in September. 124
Not if the Colts and Bengals rest their starters we won't. The Jets will still find a way to lose at least 1 of the final 2, it wouldn't matter if they were playing 4th graders. You've been a Jets fan long enough to realize this. I'm holding out hope because we match up well with Indy's pass offense and our ground control offense should help keep 18 off the field, while praying that Sanchez throws AT MOST only one pick. And Peyton Manning rests.

ZachEY
Sanchez is going to have a great day. We're going to win and we're going to get a ton of breaks in the other games. CTM
PFT's prediction: Jets (7-7) at Colts (14-0) Last week, Colts coach Jim Caldwell said he would play his starters four quarters. This week, he's not making any promises. Judging by Indy's track record, we doubt Peyton Manning makes it past halftime. Perhaps Rex Ryan will send a few exotic blitzes at Manning to try to get one clean hit that scares Caldwell into calling off the dogs. In the past, Manning was replaced by trusty veteran Jim Sorgi. Now the team has rookie Curtis Painter, a sixth-round draft pick. New York's excellent pass defense already could give the Colts problems. It will splat Painter. The Colts will lose their undefeated season because they didn't try, the Jets will pick up a cheap win in the middle of the playoff race, and there's nothing the competition committee can do about it. Pick: Jets 16, Colts 14 Hooray! Anyone rooting for that scenario can have it, but it's not for me. +1 .. We can beat them straight up

But don't you think it's a tad odd that they play GREAT for a majority of games, only to blow them in the final minutes? @Miami, vs. Jax, vs. Atlanta. If the defense was truly great, they wouldn't have let these teams score on the final drive. 124 is right. This is a good defense, nothing more. Jetsfan80
It seems like we go into prevent mode late in games, something Bart Scott said Rex Ryan simply doesn't do. Sure, Donald Strickland may have blown his coverage last week to give up the game-winning TD, but why were we playing a "soft zone" to begin with? Great defenses close games, they don't blow THREE in the final 5 minutes. And not only did they blow them, they blew them by letting up TOUCHDOWNS and long ass drives. No short fields or field goals. They collapse like a lawn chair when it matters most, which is what keeps them from being great.

They run the clock out on the offensive side of the ball. Good teams don't rely on their defense, no matter how good it is to make stop after stop after stop. If this team could kill the clock, or god forbid, score late in a game when it has a lead, our defense wouldn't constantly be put in a position to have to save the day.
