SoFlaJets
again, without Manning these guys are a .500 team AT BEST. LWC611
While I do not agree that the Colts are no where without Manning, with the exception of last season's Patriots, when most teams lose their starter, they are in a fair amount of trouble. That said, they beat us so they get to talk ****..Forget it let's deal with the offseason and next year.

That being said, the Colts defense is no joke and they have every right to talk after the way they shut down our running game.

That being said, the Colts defense is no joke and they have every right to talk after the way they shut down our running game. They can talk all they want because they won, but the idea of them shutting down the Jets running game is beyond laughable. Jones was a gimp for the last many weeks of the season, he wasn't doing anything against a good number of teams well before they played the Colts. Beyond that, the Colts "shutting down" the Jets running game involved the Jets losing the playoff's leading rusher to injury mid-game. Granted they won and they certainly did what they had to do, but lets not ignore the facts as to why the Jets run game disappeared. The same would've happened regardless of who the Jets were playing given the way TJ was playing at the end of the season.

Yes, just like the Jets defense had every right to talk about shutting down the Colts passing game after Manning was benched.. I don't know if we would've won, but I do know our running game would've been a lot more succesful had shonn greene not gotten hurt, jones is useless

At least when Brady went down the team still was able to win 11 games...no WAY the Colts win 11 games without Mealticket w/ a competent QB(not Painter in his first action) this team would have been a playoff contender w/o Manning. This is a talented team that gets little credit b/c of manning but it is funny seeing Sessions say you can't win by talking but he was talking trash last week. Either way, our guys talk and if you don't win you have to expect some backlash.

Green averaged 5.98 yards per carry against Cincy and San Diego combined and was averaging only 4.1 YPC against Indy when he went down. Considering that he had a long of 13 against Indy, that leaves 9 carries for only 28 yards which is just above 3 YPC. Give credit where it's due. Dude.. what did Green do against SD in the first half? 11 for 38 w/an 11 yard long, which works out to 2.7 Cinn was similiar out side of the 1 long run. Greene could've broke off a klong one against Indy at any point

Greene could've broke off a klong one against Indy at any point +1 Without looking, I'm sure the Jets running stats were much better in the second half all season long. That's how their running game is built. Get the body blows in early, take advantage late. Once Greene went down, they had no one who could take advantage. If Greene hadn't gotten hurt, it would've been a different game in the second half. Probably not a different outcome, but almost certainly a closer score and a lot more rushing yards for the Jets. ToonTime
Yeah, Yeah, they did in fact BEAT us, and BEAT us bad. I always give credit to the winner, no matter the margin of victory nor the circumstances. But.... Just like someone else mentioned here, the whole point of ground and pound is to weaken the D, and when Greene got hurt, those chances flew out the window. Would we have beat the Colts if Greene did no get hurt, I wont say yes , but I would have really liked to have seen that. Im not a fan of talking trash even when we do it, but these guys talking trash with their biggest game coming up and they still taking about the lowly Jets, thats str8 Bitchy...We really got under their skin, and they were Lucky Greene got hurt, they were lucky we have a rookie QB, they were lucky, we have a sometimes good, sometimes bad OC, Period. Having said all of that, our #1 Defense got Embarrased byt their Offense, maybe their offense should do some talking , they won the game by a whole lot.. A 13 point win in a 30-17 game is no friggin blowout...and it took an all-time great QB on one of his best days ever to manage that... The way I look at that is that Green averaged over 4 ypc WITHOUT breaking a long one yet. Your assessment suggests that RB's are more likely to break one in the first half than the second half. With our type of team, against a defense predicated on speed of smaller defenders, the opposite is more likely.

Yeah he wasn't doing as well as the other games, but 4.1 is respectable. And you can't just ignore the longest run and say what his average would have been without it. That like taking Greene's 128 yards in the SD game and subtracting his 53 yard run, then saying he was really only averaging 3.4 yards per carry. Truth is Greene does better in the second half cause he has the ability to wear a defense down. Jones really only assists in this aspect of the game now as he isn't as likely to break a big run. Gainzo
Shouldn't the Colts D be thinking about the Saints? A team that can score with the best in the league? Brady and the Pats hung 34 points on the Colts while piling up 477 total yards. I think the Saints can easily match that.

Lupz27
Like I said to Brackett on twitter, Sanchez had his best game of his career against whos defense? THE COLTS. To bad the O-Coordinator does not have plays in the play book to take advantage of how hot Sanchez actually was if that game was called to play action every single running down early we would have scored 27 points in the first half. And if Schotty had any kind of passing attack (playbook wise instead of WR's running next to each other) we would have scored the 14 points neccessary in the 2nd half. jack48
To the victor go the spoils. Make it to the SB, NY Jets, and no one can say a damn thing against you. I don't think that the running game was "shut down." The Jets did their best running after the half this year. Greene started the half very strong, like the Jets have been doing in recent games, and then got hurt. Thomas Jones looked like he was shot. I do not think we win the game because our D played badly. But I do think we would have gained yards on the ground and scored more than 17. Going in I do not think they expected to score 30, and I know they did not expect to give up 30. Jetsfan80
We're STILL in their heads, guys. This is a good thing. They know we'll be coming for them again next season. penguini 15
Two reasons we couldn't run the ball (We ran it very effectively in the first half): 1. Shonn Greene injury in the second half...went all downhill from there because you can't play the ground and pound style we play with just Thomas Jones..not to mention Woodhead didn't suit up. 2. Shotty did a terrible job by calling run plays to the outside...I don't understand the logic in that going against the fastest defense in the league. Running up the middle consistently never failed...
