i have to flatly disagree with you guys. they were good albums. but licensed to ill was epic. it's a cultural icon. think about it:

fight for your right

no sleep till brooklyn

she's crafty

paul revere

brass monkey

the new style

hold it now hit it

rhymin and stealin

girls

sorry the others are good but this one is just epic.

Paul's Boutique was groundbreaking and completely changed hip hop for the next 20 years.

Without Licensed to Ill there would never be anything to follow it up. They were revolutionary and gained everyone's respect within the rap community. Public Enemy opened up for them in 1986.

Incredible album, I was lucky enough to see them on the License to Ill tour.

hey you're allowed your opinion. i'd say licensed to ill was groundbreaking. in the end they're both good.

Licensed to Ill was ground breaking. It broke down the color barrier in rap as well as taking the RUN DMC hard rock beats to the next level.

However, Paul's Boutique is one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever. Its still before its time and doesnt get the recongintion it should.

The Beastie are my all time favorites...and IMO their albums go...

Check your Head

Paul Boutique

Hello Nasty

Licensed to Ill

Ill Communication

5 Burroughs

But the great thing about music is there is no right or wrong opinion.

self-admittedly i'm not a huge fan a hip-hop music. there are certain artists i like which include the beastie boys, nwa, snoop dogg etc....

but i googled "best rap albums ever" and some have licensed to ill higher and some paul's boutique higher so i guess it's just a matter of personal preference. to me licensed to ill is a cultural icon and it's just very nostalgic. i just dont have that emotional attachment to paul's boutique so that's why i choose licensed to ill.....plus i just like the songs better, lol.
