Jim Trotter just tweeted we're close on a deal for a 2011 2 or 3. It had better be 3.

Old news.

Report: Chargers to deal Cromartie to Jets

FoxSports.com's Jay Glazer reports the Chargers are "on the verge" of a trade that would send CB Antonio Cromartie to the Jets for a high pick in the 2011 draft.

Glazer believes the pick will be a second- or third-rounder. Mar. 4 - 10:28 pm et

Wow. Can't complain about the value. Even if Cromartie is as much a DBag as the rumors insist, next year's 2 or 3 is pretty cheap for a player who has been great and is still young.

In the eyes of the beholder? He's a good CB, gambles a lot which is ok on the opposite side of Revis, either a pick six or going for six...I think he'll be a really nice fit in this particular defense.

If Jenkins stays healthy, this defense will be a ****ing monster.

Well, he had one great year. And has been a major disappointment since. He will be a project in the Ryan defense. I think he'll be more promising than Sheppard ever was though.

If he turns [back] into the ballhawking #2 CB he was in San Diego (for that one year), this trade will be a major steal.

Now we just need a pass rusher and this defense is LIGHTS OUT.

Considering its for a third rounder next year I'm all for this even if Cromartie is bitch who won't tackle. If he gets back to even half of himself from two seasons ago we have the best defense in the league by a far margin. Manning won't be able to constantly exploit us like he did in the AFC championship game either.

Same can be said about Braylon Edwards. But when you have talent like that you can't pass it up. A change to a new team can change a man! Although it didn't change Lito from being mr. glass. Oh well.

Well, I think the big X-factor here is that Cromartie was great under a ballbuster HC like Marty Schottenheimer and fell off under a career punani in Norv Turner who doesn't even speak to his defensive players. I'm sure Rex and Pettine will light a fire under his ass.

What this means to me, though, is that Kerry Rhodes becomes eminently tradeable now. Cromartie doesn't need the help that a Lowery or Sheppard did, not to mention that Rhodes and Cromartie in the same secondary would combine to form the softest secondary combo in league history. Now, imo, the Jets can afford to lose a little something in terms of range at safety and exchange it for some muscle.

Meh, if it turns into a 2, that's probably a good thing when all is said and done. Good trade. Especially considering these picks hold the value of 4th's and 3rd's if they were for this season.

He can press cover. That's all that matters to me.
