Guy was a pro bowler not long ago, good returner, too.
nodimwithere
Have to have a good nickel in the NFl today. We know Cromartie will have his hands full defending WRs with Revis' "no passing zone" on the other side. Assuming Cromartie is up to the task (we will have to wait and see there), we need a good cover nickel to take the slot.

penguini 15
Oh my God. I was furious when I opened this thread. David Barrett may be the worst cornerback ever to step on a football field. Someone's probably gonna try to tell me a worse one but nobody was more frustrating to watch.

Someone's probably gonna try to tell me a worse one but nobody was more frustrating to watch. While I would never want him now, Barrett gets WAY too much hate from Jets fans. The guy played very well for us in 2004 and beyond that for a number of years was one of the more clutch defenders we had. He certainly got beat more than his share of times, but so have 99% of Jets CBs, but the guy came up with some pretty big plays when it counted. People made such a huge deal out of it because of the cushion he gave and his declining play later on, but the Jets got a couple of pretty decent years out of him. He was by no means great, but also nowhere near as bad as folks around these parts made him out to be. The Jets have had dozens of CBs worse than him, and at least a few worse than him on the roster when he was here.
slats
Barrett gets WAY too much hate from Jets fans. My Barrett hatred is a subdivision of my larger Bradway hatred. All of Bradway's big moves sucked, and Barrett was a pretty expensive addition, IIRC. I equate Barrett and McCariens because we overpaid for both, and both looked stiff as a board out on the field. Fair enough, although I wouldn't put Barrett quite on the JMac level if for no other reason than he didn't cost us a freakin' second round pick.
