Season Ticket Holders

This is for the people who had season tix back in the day or currently have season tix:

Does it tick you off when people on a message board say they would pay $1,000+ to go to a game but they can't go because the live in Chicago/Boise/China?

I didn't renew my Pats tix this year and I'm cool with that.

The funny thing is reading some of the comments in this thread I started http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/10/328250-anyone-else-giving-up-their-season-tickets.html

Bottom line: I'm done spending the money to attend NFL games. If other fans want to spend the money then good for them. Football is entertainment and if you have the money to go to every game then that is awesome.

As a long time Jets season ticket holder I have heard it all from other fans of Gang Green...after years of paying money for a team that has not produced a championship, I find it comical when I hear things like that. The NFL is a business that can care less about its fans...the Jets raised ticket prices off of a 4-12 season.. If someone wants to spend their hard earned money on tickets, good for you..but to criticize others for not doing so is laughable.

So what you are saying is you are giving up on this team? No season tickets for you? I can't believe you would do that. Totally weak.

BTW I am right there with you.

This will be my last year, and the only reason going this year is because I wanted to get at least get one year in the new stadium... from there on out will pick and choose the games I want to go to instead of throwing money away...

I hear you, I am sure I will be there myself. Haven't bought anything yet though. :-P

I love my seats in Mezz A and couldn't be happier. When you get older as you three are, there are more important things in life, but at 21, there isn't much except graduating college and getting a "real" job.

I'm sure in 15-20 years I'll be selling the PSL rights.

Did you just call me old?

And in 20 years the rights to that PSL won't be worth the time it takes to type out that ad.

I just wish I lived close enough and had the money for season tix. Just one season would be nice. I made my first trip to the Meadowlands for the final game in the stadium and I loved every minute of it. I am trying to talk the wife into driving up for the Monday night opener in the new stadium. It sucks living so far from your team. :(

True dat. Comes down to what is best for you and your situation. I don't think anyone is less of a fan either way, that is just stupid.

I'm giving it a shot in the upper deck this year, 12th row. If I don't like the view, I'll be packing it in also. I could have paid for the PSL, but didn't out of principle and have not had second thoughts. Being a good fan doesn't mean that you have to be willing to get bent over the table and enjoy being financially cornholed.

The 12th row is equivalent to the top of the old stadium. Are they great views, probably not (i was a STH in the last row of the stadium) but i didn't mind being up there. One good thing about being up there is getting to see the whole play easier. For me, being in a section with some fun, rowdy, loud fans and actually being in the stadium to share the gameday with 80,000 other jets fans is what it is about. Hopefully you land in a section with some good people.

I hear what you are saying Joe, but for me this decision is not about other priorities. After this year I will still be attending several Jets games, just feel like season tickets have become over priced. I will be real interested to see how the Jets handle all of their unsold lower bowl PSL seats.. $400 per seat to see the Jets good luck with that

I hope so, but after spending 25 years in the mezzanine and the lowers it might be a shock to end up in the clouds. I kept the tix so that I could still spend some quality time with my son who is now 20 and doing his own thing.

15-20 years they will be looking to replace the New Meadowlands Stadium with the New New Meadowlands Stadium.

You could always get a job and buy the tickets. Just throwing that out there.

I have a job. Good paying one at that. That isnt the problem.

The g/f is a huge Pats fan and knows im not happy that I am no longer a season ticket holder. So she promised to buy tickets every year and go to the Pats/Jets game in NY. But there is no way I will let her buy tickets for this years game.

And, Im just not paying the ridiculous prices it will cost for the opening game. Not worth the price or the 2 days I would need to take off for it.

It is a complete luxury and one that I can afford and love to afford.

It is also one of the first things I would drop if I started to cut costs.

That being said, I saved for years for the PSLs (since West Side Stadium) because I am ok paying for entertainment.

That is cool.

Another issue I have with the way the Pats do business is that there is no flexibility on payment. Invoices must be paid by March 31st and if you pay with a credit card you have to use VISA and the Pats tack on a $27 service fee.

There are no payment plans at all.

Does anyone know of other NFL teams that requires full payment so early?

That is the best reason of all to keep the tix. And dude, like I said, it is a different experience from up there but not neccessarily so bad. Its kinda like watching on tv as far as the on field presentation, but you get to be a part of the crowd, which for me is a huge part of being there!

Also, you get to do the whole tailgate thing, which is cool to do with your son now that he is coming of age. You guys need to swing by our tailgate this season.

IMO the credit card fee is cheap and tacky on their part.

As far as payment plans, we only have a payment plan for the psl license and they had to offer that. As far as the actual tix, the jets want that all up front and I believe every team is the same in that regard.

When are season ticket invoices due for the Jets? You guys can't be as bad as the Pats wanting the money by March 31st.

I have a feeling that the Pats are going to unofficially extended that deadline as season tickets renewals are going to be the lowest Kraft has seen since he bought the team in 1994.

I fully agree with you. I don't think I owe any NFL franchise anything, especially monetarily. I don't care about proving my "fandom" by spending money on something, it's entertainment to me and my life will go on. I root for the Jets to win and I post on here, that's good enough for me.

Yeah, I would miss the atmosphere for sure after so many years, plus hopefully we are on the verge of a good sustained run for once. We will definitely come to a tailgate or two this year

Having had season tix and living in Florida, I was okay with the price of tix, hotel and plane ride...however, paying a PSL of 20 grand and adding in the other prices associated coming from out of town, I just couldn't justify it.

You probably know the Pats didn't have a PSL when Gillette opened in 2002. But.................my tix were $99 in 2002 and are now $169 and I'm sure they will go up again in 2011 (if there is a season).

I have no problem with people paying for PSL's and I wish them the best but I'm not sure they understand that ticket prices are going to go up, on average, every other year.

If you don't buy season tix you lose your PSL. That's a tough pill to swallow.

Yep, teams are catering more to the shirt and tie crowd...fans like you and me who have supported their teams for years will become a dying breed.

If your ticket package costs 1200 for 1 seat, 27 is 2.25%, which about what the CC charges are to the Pats. I'm not saying it's right, but this is why they tack it on.

My ticket package is $169 per seat. I understand the way credit card Companies operate but the Pats only accept Visa so they are adding even more money to their bottom line with their exclusive agreement with Visa.

I'm out anyway so no big deal. There are going to be a lot of blackouts in 5 or so years as the owners are going to price out their customers from going to games.
