villain_the_foe
Cool thread, dude! Thanks! No doubt, glad you liked. If we have anything like Namath in Sanchez I think we'll be winning more than 1 championship during his era.
SoFlaJets
It was a great game-I saw it live on NBC on January 17th 1969-I was 13 years old and in the 8th grade-Joe Namath OWNED that city after that game. They even gave him his own TV show that spring/summer Bachelor After Dark I think it was...

SoFlaJets
January 12. It was my dad's birthday! you're right slats- I used to drive a yellow cab when I first moved down here and had a call to pick up Curt Gowdy to bring him to his Worth Ave in Palm Beach residence. I talked to him about that game-and about William Shatner killing a black bear or was it a grizzly with a bow and arrow on The American Sportsman-he really WAS James T Kirk that day-amazing. nodimwithere
It may be too painful for Colts fans to relive. Even Don Shula, who has been associated with the Miami Dolphins seemingly forever, would have a hard time with it. Which brings up this point: why did the Colts, who were the home team in Superbowl XLIV, not wear their white jerseys? In the two Superbowls they won (one in Baltimore, and one in Indy) they wore white; in the Superbowl they lost (SB III to the Jets) they wore their blue jerseys. In Superbowl XLIV they wore blue and, predictably, lost. I guess Polian doesn't believe in that sort of thing!
neckdemon
the thing that strikes me most about this game is the general lack of speed of the players compared to today's players.

Today's players are bigger, stronger, and faster than they were back then.

Blue jerseys are their home (and preferred) jerseys so that's what they wore in the Super Bowl. Since moving to Indianapolis, the Colts have only worn white at home on two occasions. Both times came in 1995.
