New Seahawks coach Pete Carroll confirmed his team is talking to the Broncos about a possible trade for wide receiver Brandon Marshall.

The Denver Post reports, "Carroll said Seahawks GM John Schneider has talked with the Broncos and Marshall's agent Kennard McGuire. Because Marshall is a restricted free agent, the Seahawks would probably have to first settle on a new contract with the receiver, and then talk compensation with the Broncos."

The report says the Seahawks are unlikely to simply sign Marshall as a restricted free agent and turn over their first-round pick (No. 6 overall) to the Broncos as compensation.

Marshall visited with the Seahawks earlier this month.

I think Denver will realize that with the baggage Marshall has a 1st rounder will be too high a asking price. A 2nd and some lower rounders sounds about right. You KNOW the Seahawks aren't turning over the overall 6th pick for him.

I'd love to have marshall here. But, if the seahawks are involved we aren't going to win. Even if they don't give up their first. Their second and fourth round picks are a lot higher then ours. The only thing that could tip things our way is if Marshall wants to play here and won't sign an extension with seattle.

I think we should go hard after Marshall and make a deal with Edwards. No way we keep Marshall and Edwards.

BE is a human butterfingers. The guy doesn't give me an reason to have confidence in him.

Marshall on the other hand is a human highlight reel and would be a better WR for us.

we just re-did Braylon for 6.1 mil for this year, so he ain't going anywhere-if we can get Marshall for a 2nd rounder and maybe a 5th rounder from NEXT year-I say go hard for it

Why would anyone trade a #1 to Denver for Marshall? They can simply sign him, and say his salary is 100% guaranteed if he plays more than 4 games in Colorado in the 1st year.

Washington for Marshall straight up.. I'm in! but we better make sure we can sign all our big names....

My thinking is maybe the Bronco's would be interested in BE since they will most certainly need to replace Marshall.

The fact that BE only has that 1 year tender would limit the Bronco's liability should he not pan out.

Marshall >>>>>>>>> Washington even at his best. I don't get it, why the Jets package a deal with Leon for Marshall?

Marshall for Leon, 2010 3rd and 2011 4th..make the deal only if teams reach long term deals

You'd have to ship the first rounder anyway. The pill just ensures that they won't match. It doesn't mean you don't have to ship the draft pick.

I understand how it works.

I'm saying why would anyone, any team, negotiate with the broncos for a 1st rounder? They can do that without negotiating.

Seattle has shown the most interest in Marshall and also has two first round picks. They'd have to send 6 if they signed him to an offer sheet but could negotiate a trade for 14 instead.

True the RARE team with 2 1st rounders could benefit... so 1 team is in the negotiations.

Edwards deal is only for one year. The money wouldn't be tied up for years, we could sign marshall to a long term deal this year keep edwards this year and let him go next year. Now if the Broncos ask for Edwards and a lower draft pick I'd do it. But we don't need to give up edwards just because we sing marshall.

Marshall sucks and you suck for even wanting him on the Jets.

Fine Marshall is talented, but he isn't worth it. sure the team might, might, be able to change his attitude, but some guys can't be changed.

What happens when the Jets have a bad year, is he going to be a team player, or a guy who complains and quits on the team

Its because we cant even get calls about Leons 2nd round tender. No one knows about the extent of his injury...not even the Jets because Leon isnt on the field right now. Denver is not going to take Leon with a 3rd and 4th next year. If Leon isnt the same player then they just traded away a top 5 WR for a 3rd and 4th for the following year. Thats not happening.

Then we can give them our 2nd and 3rd...which would give them a higher pick in the 3rd.
