You didn't miss anything. Another terrible UFC. I'll stick to Strikeforce, at least they put together good fights nowadays.

Yeah it wasn't the best (def not worth the money) but strike force kinda sucks haha. UFC 110 was really great. Maybe WEC is the way to go. Knowing that GSP and Fitch were fighting on the same card, they should have put some more brawlers on the bill or something. GSP is a great MMA guy with outstanding takedowns but he couldn't finish yet another guy.. I know he was pissed but it's time to start finishing guys. I want to see him fight Koscheck again, or Fitch I guess.

I'm guessing you didn't watch the last strikeforce a month or two back. Almost every fight was amazing. UFC is more worried about getting Brock Lesnar in the ring and making it a circus WWE event....definalty not a good direction for that company...

The HW division in UFC is stacked I don't think Lesnar is going to be a champ for long. Are you talking about the Brett Rogers Fedor card? I don't remember the whole ppv but there were good fights. I'd have to say UFC 110 has been my favorite in a while. I also think this PPV could have been better if they weren't having the Kenny Florian fight on Wednesday and the Brandon Vera/Jones and Gonzaga/Dos Santos fights on Versus last sunday. So keep that in mind.. you get one card every few months with Strikeforce.

GSP had Hardy in an arm-bar in the 1st. Hardy is so damn tough, he took the pain and fought through. GSP could have ripped his arm off with the kimura in the 4th. Wasn't a bad card. Pre-lims can be watched for free on spike before the fights also.

I would rather have 4 good cards per year than a crap load of BS cards sprinkled in between a good card. Fedor is still the best heaveyweight fighter to ever live so how is the HW division stacked in the UFC? They have Brock who is ok and has lost 1 out of 4 fights, and Carwin who is now on the rise....I would say that Cain Valasquez is their best HW and he is also new to the game....

while I hear what you are saying, would love to see Fedor fight more than once in a year and take on the likes of Cain Velasquez, Dos Santos, Mir and Lesnar..that is a decent HW division.. I agree the UFC is overdoing a bit with too many cards, but I think their production and fighters are just better overall in the UFC... you just know Jake Shield and Mousasi will be on their way over as well..

Dos Santos, Brock, Carwin, Cain, Mir, and then some lower guys that would probably be top guys in strike force like Kongo, Nogueria, Gonzaga, Roy Nelson, etc. I bet there's more. I think it's looking to be the best division right now, they just want to knock each other out. I don't think Fedor would last in the UFC. He barely beat Brett Rodgers.

I gained a lot of respect for Hardy in that fight but yeah, still a boring fight after a couple rounds of the same mumbo jumbo. GSP will not be stopped until someone can stop his take downs. And on the ground he is just constantly changing positions. The prelims were awesome.. NJ went 2-0!

This thread is still in the NFL forum :confused0082:

That's the same thing we always hear, how the other guy is just so tough that GSP couldn't finish them. If not for BJ Penn's corner throwing the towel in, Penn wouldn't have been finished either. The last person GSP legit finished was Serra, and he was up right away and acted like it was stopped early (I don't agree, but just mentioning it for completeness sake).

GSP uses a ground and stall style that lends itself to very safe, boring fights. That's a major problem with MMA, boring fights.

To make a comparison with football, imagine if every team just punted on 1st down to avoid losing a game, and the only way any scoring would happen is if something got returned for a TD or there was some other mistake made, there's no attempt to actually score on offense yourself. The team with the better punter is just declared the winner at the end of the game because they punted further all the time and backed the other team up. That's what GSP's style is.

Haha, I don't know about punting on 1st down I think always running the ball would lend itself to a better comparison. I.E. Your NY Jets.

Cain Valasquez is the only HW I could see giving Fedor a run. Fedor is getting old, but has dominated every HW "in their prime" (nogiera, cro cop, sylvia, arlovski, herring) and still never lost a fight in his entire life (only 1 from a cut, later avenged). Even the watered down Fedor that your seeing now would beat all of the UFC's HW division with the exception of Valasquez.

Fedor is a submission fighter, but decided to stand with a very dangerous, much stronger, and undeafeated fighter in Rogers who is in his prime while Fedor is not....yet Fedor knocked him out cold.

GSP is boring, and anytime he's on a card, I will stay far far away. BJ Penn is the best 155 pounder I've ever seen, he needs to stay in his weight class.

Did you watch the Melvin Manoff vs Robbie Lawler fight? I would watch that anyday over the snooze fests that UFC has put together recently.....

I have to admit some of the UFC cards have been really bad as of late. The issue with GSP is that he's so ridiculously dominant no one can stop what he does.

I did enjoy the Carwin/Mir match. Mainly cause I HATE HATE HATE Frank Mir.

Okay that's one fight.. I'd take the Lyoto vs Rashad fight over most fights if I were asked. That really doesn't prove anything.. Srike force still isn't as good as the UFC. And to talk a little more about Fedor, the HW division was never this good and never has been good in strikeforce. I'll give him more respect when he fights one of these top guys. Silva and alrovsky and all those guys-- not really impressive. I would not mind seeing him fight Brock Lesnar because I think it'd be a great fight but most likely he'll just keep beating up the scrubs he fights now. He's fighting fabricio werdum next.. another scrub.
