JonEJet
To all the "I wish Holmes was a Patriot crowd": With all of the talk about team chemistry being the downfall of the Pats last year it doesn't surprise me one bit that the Pats wouldn't be interested in Holmes. The Jets are a good team, with a lot of talent, but talent doesn't always win games. On the surface this looks like a good deal for the Jets. Maybe Holmes will pull an Irvin Fryar and get his head on straight, but I doubt it. I still think the Jets strategy of trading up will hurt them in the long run, they are not developing good depth, once a starter start going down to injuries there lack of depth will hurt them. The Pats are deep at every position with the exception of WR, LB and TE. The Pats are VERY deep at OL, DL and DB In terms of positional strength prior to the draft Jets versus Pats I think it looks like this: QB: Advantage Pats by a wide margin <Check> RB: Push <Redunkulous> TE: Push <Alge Crumpler is a push...lol> OL: Slight Advantage Jets because of Mangold <UHHH> WR: Advantage Pats Holmes and Welker will probably get back around the same game, Moss, Welker, Edleman > than Edwards, Holmes, Cotchery <Okay winged nut> LB: Advantage Jets <BY A HUGE MARGIN> DL: Advatange Pats <Kris Jenkins alone gives this a push> CB: Slight Advantage Jets because of Revis, not Cromartie but I think the Pats have better depth than the Jets but Revis is so good. <Slight Advantage????NOT!!!!!> Safeties: Push with a slight lean toward the Pats assuming Merriweather continues to get better Specialist: Push the Pats don't have a punter and the Jets don't have a kicker Coach: Advantage Pats by a wide margin
The Gun Of Bavaria
The only thing the Patriots have an advantage over the Jets on is the yearly group sex parties they have with the media, who have had their mouths wrapped around the collective penis of the Patsies for years. As of now, I'd give the Jets a slight edge, and I might be being kind) LB: Advantage Jets (Agreed) DL: Advatange Pats (Agreed) CB: Slight Advantage Jets because of Revis, not Cromartie but I think the Pats have better depth than the Jets but Revis is so good. SMC
The great irony is that the Pat fans have been calling the Jet fans delusional, when there is no bigger delusional fanbase than the Pats. So much so some believed that Belichick intentionally threw the Raven playoff game. They couldn't fathom getting embarrassed at home, so there had to be another reason for it. The OP quote is another example of this chronic delusion.
Bleedin Green
This depth issue our fanbase has created is way over blown. We have depth and we will be adding more soon. Completely agree. While its tough to say since its been a non-issue, but OL might be the one position that the Jets could use a little better depth, although I think depending on who it was on the line that got hurt would depend how much of an impact it really had (as long as Mangold and Brick stay healthy, I wouldn't be overly concerned). While the Jets have stayed very healthy the past couple of years, they still did get to show off their depth last year. The Jets lost their offensive and defensive MVPs from 2008 and still made it to the AFC Championship thanks to huge contributions by both of the players who replaced them and had started the year at #2 NT and #3 RB respectively. Gainzo
Don't take this the wrong way but I'm never worried about the Jets when they play the Pats. When was the last time the Jets swept the Pats? 2000 maybe? You guys are gearing up for a huge run in 2010.

Nice try and good job finding one of the three or four Pats fans that do NOT think this is a great signing. Most think this pushes the Jets far ahead of the Pats. Now, we shall see if the paper translates onto the field.....hard to think it will not...after the first four games anyway. Anyway, here's the deal as of 4/12/10: Advantage Jets in every category except QB and Kicker.
gangreenman
I was reading a Pats board last night after the trade as well... And I tell you it reminded me of reading this board a few years ago the year the Pats traded for Moss and signed Welker and Adalius Thomas. We all knew they were good moves on paper but we hoped that somehow the me-first attitudes of Randy Moss and Adalius Thomas would lead to the team self-destructing. Now the shoe is completely on the other foot. The Jets have by far the more talented team on paper (other then QB)... And the Pats fans are clinging to the hope that we may self destruct with all of the attitude problems. Having both is great...But I'd take elite talent over elite attitudes any day of the week.
