Here are the four most important things an owner can do to help his team win:

- Spend money

- Hire a good GM

- Hire a good head coach

- don't distract the team by making a spectacle of yourself like Jerry Jones or Al Davis

I think right now Woody Johnson is four for four on these issues and is the best owner in the league. I know Jet fans mostly think of him as a dorky rich guy but it might actually be time to respect the man with two words for wiener in his name. We have the best GM/HC combo in the league. The owner has to be given credit for that because he's the one who makes the decision. It took Woody a while but I think he finally learned how to tell the BS artists from the guys who can actually do the job.

Not to mention a state of the art practice facility in Florham, NJ...Which he got built. A state of the art new stadium in the Meadowlands (after he tried and failed at getting our own in NYC) that will bare our team's colors and name for our home games...Which he was a big part of.

So, lets review. He took over ten years ago in 2000.

It is now 2010 and we have:

-Arguably the most talented team in the league

-A top five coach in the league

-Arguably the best GM in the league

-Probably one of the best training/practice facilities in the league

-A brand new, state-of-the-art stadium not called GIANTS STADIUM

.....

I'd say thats a pretty big YES vote right there!!

Outside of the "same old Jets" crowd and the NJ-haters, there's been pretty much zero reason to hate on Woody since AT LEAST back in 2006 when he took it upon himself to oust Herm, demote Bradway and promote Mikey T. The guy has made every possible effort to do whatever he feels can help make this team better and in recent history has done a very good job at it. I'm a fan of the guy and am glad we have him as our team's owner.

I already respected Woody. Why would acquiring Santonio Holmes force people into respecting the man? He's a very good owner whose # 1 goal other than making money has been to make the Jets a team we could be proud of, not embarrassed of. PSL's aside, he's earned my respect.

Woody has always been a very good owner. He has never been "stingy" as some people used to say. This team has always been up against the cap every year he has owned the team. He tried like hell to have the team play in the mecca of he world and went up against the opposition to do so. Unfortunately it wasn't going to happen, but he spent millions trying. He has made mistakes in hiring decisions, but he has also been very quick to own up to it and attempt to right the situation (Herm and Mangini). He is always friendly to the fans and gets out there quite often. People hate the PSL's, and I certainly don't like them myself but in the end it is a business and he has to do what he can to generate revenue.

Woody has been a very good owner, he has this team headed in the right direction. That being said, he missed the mark on what he could charge for PSLs and get away with it. That may always be his legacy.

One thing Im confused about... If the Jets dont sell out PSL's, does that mean the blackout rules will apply in the NY Metropolitan (Tri State) area? Methinks they would be using that as a huge selling point as im sure there are many fans who could probably afford the PSL but would rather not pay it and just watch on TV. If watching on TV is not an option however.....

If they don't sellout PSLs the Jets will just sell the leftover seats on a game by game basis, which I doubt will be too difficult to pull off getting rid of all of them. Even if they have trouble there, The Jets will still never get blacked out. At the very least the team and/or CBS would buy up the remaining tickets to make sure the game makes it to TV.

IF thats true what you say about them selling on a game by game basis... Why in the world would anyone have paid over 10k for PSL's, which dont even include season tix?

The difference is the game by game price will be significantly more than the cost for the season-ticket holders.
