HessStation
Thanks for the input... Purchased one anyway...hope I knew what I was doing. I used to be into stuff like this like 10 years ago. Now I'm old, uncool with no clue. I'm pretty sure that with technology 350 bucks gets you a really nice system. Meh, Hope you like what you got. rillo
IDK, seems too much without blu-ray. If you have a pretty big living room, I would go with wireless if you can. I hate running wires.

rillo
Yep, I didn't go with the one in the image...purchased a wireless samsung unit. Best way to go IMO. I bought one for my mother a couple of years ago, and thought it was wireless, when I went to hook it up I found out it was 'wireless ready' and had to buy an add-on. I was pissed LOL. villain_the_foe
a wireless system to me isnt so important as long as you dont mind stapling or hiding the wires with furniture. The two things that I would certainly consider are these. 1. Its atleast a 5.1 system 2. it has alteast 1000 watts of power. You can find plenty of 5.1/1000+ watt systems on the market at an affordable price ($200-$400). You'll be able to get those deep rich sounds from the bass without sacrificing or drowning out the other sounds from the speakers. I've had my Panasonic system for atleast 4-5 years and its still going strong.

Jbro22
I bought one a couple of months ago, Samsung for around 200$. Cheap and isn't the best one out there. But packs more than enough power for the shoe box room I live in. Man, its time to move out of my parents house...
JerryK
Not sure what I'd do with a 5-disc dvd changer. I usually watch a movie the put it away for 6months or more. Blu-Ray is a must I thnk. Last week we just watched our first one at the in-laws. (Avatar). It was also the first 1080P they'd ever run on their tv, because the cableco is 1080i. --I'm sold on it. For me the tough puzzle to solve is finding a tuner with enough components. -Why only 3 or 4 HDMI inputs? There are far too many components out there for that few inputs on a tuner. I just don't get it. -I think all inputs HDMI/analog should be routed to the DV or coax output. Most won't downconver tot the coax output. -RGB should come out in the HDMI output...hard to find one that does that.

Bob
I've got an AIWA surround sound system that my wife bought me years ago. It still works great. The first movie we watched with it was one of the Star Wars flicks. When a ship came rumbling into view, the subwoofer rattled the room. Scared the hell out of my wife's cats. Fishooked
I dont make enough money to afford to be a huge audiophile, but I have an Onkyo home theater and its awesome for what I use it for. The can be a nightmare to setup though. Somehow I had to connect the TV, receiver, HD converter, DVD player, PS3, and Wii system. I took a day off of work and sat there and cried in a pile of wires.
