R3V1S24
It almost seems inevitable that Russell will end up broke. He will probably make it rain at a McDonalds one too many times....Thoughts?
kelticwizard
He's got a lot of money to go through. There have been several NFL players who were well paid and later ended up having to steal food-Jefferson Street Joe Gilliam and Todd Marinovitch come to mind-but this was years later and they never got anywhere near the money Russell did. Being lazy is sometimes a mark of not being intelligent, but not necessarily so. I am not certain his NFL career is entirely over, either. Seems to me somebody will give him a chance as a project/backup.

I think teams would be more willing to take on a project if the player actully worked hard and showed intrest. I would even be more willing to give VG (the worst player in the history of the NFL ) a second chance before JR .

Ryan Leaf had three NFL chances after he flamed out in San Diego. Tampa Bay, Dallas and Seattle all gave Leaf a shot. Russell is likely to get more chances, too. I think he'll be safe if he stays with he Dollar menu. If he gets all fancy and shiit and starts super sizing everything and finishing up with a sundae every time he is doomed. Bruce Banner
I think one way celebrity athletes blow their money is not realizing that custom houses and boats don't return their value. I remember reading once about Evander Holyfield building a $30M custom house in Georgia. He prolly think that since he spent $30M to build it he can sell it for that much. No way he gets that $30M back. My WAG is that he gets less than $10M for it. Anyway, you always read about these athletes building houses to order, getting boats built to order, etc. When the money runs out those things are not going to hold their value. Anyway, lets break it down: Made around $35M, half goes to taxes so thats $17.5M Agent gets 4% so thats $16M left. Buy house for mommy now whats left is $14M Relatives "borrow" money now he's got $12M Friend talks him into crazy business idea $10M Fancy stuff he doesn't need $7M Living expenses for a superstar $3M Suits only a guy from Alabama would wear -$5M So by my estimation he is already in debt. Welcome to my world, Jamarcus.

What makes it seem inevitable? Outside of him being a bust I havent really heard much on Russell. Doubt he'll eat 30 million dollars worth of Angus burgers.
