Here, they make a mixture of pancake batter and sprite to dip the fillets in and then deep fry them. Damn good. Ahh, the ripper. Yeah, rutz hut in clifton probably made it famous, but frying a dog is a lot more common than you think. Not everywhere does it until it rips open. As an example, hot dog jonnies fries theirs (in peanut oil) but until recently with the whole peanut allergy thing nobody ever knew they were fried, it was a closely held secret. Thumans or Best are probably the 2 biggest brands of dogs used. I may end up busting out the deep fryer at a game and cook them this way for one game just to change it up. Its seems like they would be better dipped in batter and then fried.

With batter it clashes with the bun so that gets axed, and then with no bun you are stuck without toppings, no kraut, onions, chili, or any other good stuff. I am sure they will be a spicier beef version like a sabrett that is popular around here, plus the whole kosher thing.

Its a shame somebody couldnt come up with a dog wrapped in a croissant like bun that you deep fried and then cut the bun length ways. Im not a big fan of the cornhole dog. I've been going to Hot Dog Johnnies since I was a little kid and it was just a small trailer. It's amazing how much that place has grown over the years and their dogs haven't changed a bit. raw onions, mustard, and a pickle. Pure deliciousness. RutgersJetFan
They make them at Tido's in New Brunswick wrapped in bacon. Many a college night spent eating those when I wasn't in the mood for a fat sandwich.
