Line for the bathroom is shorter.

Plenty of parking.

No drunk assh0les.

No one to tell me to shut the f#ck up.

Food is cheaper.

Better food choices.

Water doesnt cost $4.75 for a 20oz bottle. Maybe a penny or 2 at home.

I can watch real porn at halftime. Not boobies on a spiral.

You forgot the most important thing BEER is cheaper and colder--------

I have enough money to buy the seats. I can write the Jets a check for seats right now.

The Harley guys had a season ticket bill over over 20k per year in the old stadium. That is how many front row club seats they had. They have a vehicle that costs more than most peoples houses.

They will not be there out of principle. Not out of financial reasons.

Principle?

Bull****

It is all about the $$$$

If PSLs were $1,000, they would be there.

If they won the powerball tomorrow, they would be there.

Im waitng for the PSLs to really go on sale. This latest teaser is just the beginning.

Good, hold out for the worse seats. Make them discount them, and those who bought in early and have 10x better seats will still get the same discount.

I do not see how you personally benefit from that method.

He doesnt and shouldnt care if other people get a better deal. If he holds out and pays less, thats how he benefits.

If I had to pay a single cent for a PSL, I would not have seats next year. Not because I couldn't afford to pay, but because it is not a sound financial decision, no matter how you try to rationalize it. Since I am unable to attend every home game, in not paying a PSL or $250 for two meaningless weeknight games in August, I would spend less money on tickets buying them on a per-game basis, even at a mark-up. I can't begin to imagine how cheap tickets will be when the team sucks, as I was rarely (if ever) able to get near face value for them in down years - and that's when the tickets cost half as much.

Having the option, I chose to move from the lower bowl to the uppers and see how it goes. If I don't like the seats or if I see that the secondary market for tickets is even worse than in the past at the current pricepoint , I can walk away with no financial commitment.

I have always bought single game tickets and understand the advantages, I also understand how badly ripped off I got for average seats when I wanted to go to a big game.

Good luck trying to make it a "sound financial decision" to buy AFC Championship tickets on Stub Hub.... lol

For the AFC Championship, I could pay 4x face value and still be ahead of the game when you factor in the money wasted on preseason tickets as well as PSL payments.

Considering that the Jets have played 2 home playoff games in the last 20 years, I wouldn't be overly concerned about breaking the bank for playoff tickets every year.

Right but you are not a good example as you will not be attending all or most games...

Someone who would go to six games plus a couple playoff games would be far better off with season tix than you.

Sure if you only want to go to a few games, then overpaying for a few games is no big deal. I did it for years.

Don't listen to Ecurb, if everybody held out the PSL's would be free/gone! :P

Bargain hunter mentality..

Just like in my business, people want to wait to buy a car until it is a "leftover" and has bigger rebates.

Problem is you will then be settling for equipment as selection will be low and you will be buying a car that has been rotting away on a dealers lot for 3-9+ months...

Or you could just buy a 1 or 2 year old pre-owned and let someone else take the huge depreciation hit. :D

A couple of playoff games? Well, that is the absolute best-case scenario, as it's impossible to have 3 home playoff games in a season (the 2014 Super Bowl notwithstanding).

Let's take a look at what it costs for someone to pay a $2,500 PSL (using the Jets' 15-yr payment plan) versus the cost of buying individual tickets for all 8 regular season games:

PSL plan

2 (worthless) preseason games x $125 = $250

8 regular season games x $125 = $1,000

Annual PSL payment = $243

Total = $1,493 per ticket

Single Game Plan

To attend all 8 regular season home games at the same cost by purchasing single game tickets on the secondary market:

$1,493 / 8 = $186.63 per game = 49.3% above face value

Now, in a season when the Jets are opening a new stadium and have a ton of hype surrounding them, I concede that tickets on the secondary market may be costly. However, based on extensive experience, I seriously doubt that you will pay a 50% on average over the years, even factoring in playoff games.

You have made your decision and that's fine... but don't delude yourself into thinking that the people who aren't buying PSL's aren't doing so because they can't afford to do so. To me, it just doesn't make sense to make a financial commitment that offers so few advantages over the alternative of buying single game tickets.

I think last year they tailgated at the dealership with the Kingsley. Not sure what they are doing this year.

I agree with you, if you get a good group together it can be fun watching them at home. Still undecided on what to do for this season for myself. The PSL points made in this thread haven't swayed me much.

Its a different situation for everyone. I probablt realistically should not have gone for psls at 5,000 a pop (now reduced to 2500!). I sat down with my father, who knows my whole financial picture, and he kinda made apoint. Yeah it is a lot of money, and not a wise purchase, but if we only made wise, frugal purchases based on need we would all be eating chicken and cereal and shopping for clothes at walmart and target. The Jets and going to the games is my greatest pleasure in life and something that means a lot to me. What is the price of something that makes me more happy than anything else. Now I am not married, no kids or other things to tie up my money, time, and affection. I look forward to those 8 sundays all year, and with all my friends, the tailgatejoe thing, and the roar of the crowd when times are good in jetland, there is no way sitting home to watch the game can ever come anywhere close to replacing that. In a few years my nephew who I love as much as I could ever love my own son will be old enough to come along (taking him to a preseason game this year) and hopefully some day I have a kid of my own that I can take along and have that experience with as well. Now really, is 2,500 a pop for 30 years of that worth it? For me it most definitely is, not even a question.

Of course, your situation is different, you have a world of other obligations and bills and people that I can only dream about. But for me, the psl on one hand is the biggest waste of money I have ever spent but also the greatest investment in me and my personal enjoyment I have ever made.

Even one playoff game kills your %, heck if the JETS have a winning record any given year after week 8 that kills your %...

Good lower level seats always sell for at least double when times are good.

i don't fault anyone for buying PSLs. but i know for me there is no way i could make 8 games a year, even if i lived closer. so for people like me, buying from stubhub makes more sense than paying for a PSL and trying to unload my unused tickets.

Really, have you been getting the discounts everyone else has been getting since you got your seats and paid full price. Ive already been offered free parking and an option not to buy pre-season tickets. How about you?

Better seats? It seems to me many have said there isnt a bad PSL seat in the house.

If they discount the PSL everyone gets the discount, even the guy in the front row on the aisle...

I got some perks too, and I already sold my pre-season tix for a nice profit.

Regardless, the people who bought in early get the better seats...

Aisles, front rows, etc...

By waiting you will be in the middle of a row and further back.

It doesnt matter if the Jets sell all the PSLs. At the end of the day, almost any PSL seat will be avilabel for far less on the secondary market after you factor in parking, preseason games and the cost of the PSL.

I heard PSLs are available for even less, even after the price reductions and tickets are being offered well below face.

Simply put, the fans and businesses figured out that you should go nowhere near a PSL.

Lets see agree to give everyone a discount off their purchase the next time around. Eventually they will just leave some people hanging as the prices for the bottom tier continue to head south.

This is what they get for pricing everything way above market.

Why would I drop $50K plus $1,400, plus having to commit to the preseason and all regular season games when I can already buy the same two seats for around $500? Its not even worth it if the PSL was $1K for the Coaches seats.

Those that waited or were on the fence and jumped in are getting the better deal in terms of price, free parking 1st year, and extended PSL first payment for Nov 2011

actually there is no free parking.. unless you bought during the "free parking" promotion..

I have had season tickets since 1988. The event you described has never happened. I hope it happens this year and will gladly pay a premium for it.

But let's make no mistake about it. That event is by far the exception and not the rule. Basing any decisions off that event is a mistake.

Joe you make a good point. I think we should go to a strip club and discuss this further. We should bring enough money to make PSLs the second worst financial decision ever.

:-P

Principal?

What a joke... do they get outraged when CVS has their tampon brand on sale but Rite-Aide doesn't, do they boycott CVS over principal? You know CVS could sell them at less of a profit like Rite Aide... sort of like Woody could make less of a profit like other teams.

Principal is a lame excuse for "I just don't want to spend the cash" why they feel the need to cover it up is beyond me.

Before you say it is different, this is a large expense. Please remember this is about the principal of it not the money.
